The D rooms

Hey there all. Well, my fist stay at The D is coming up, and I was wondering a couple of things.

What rooms have a fridge in them? Got to keep the Gate-raid cold for the day after.
Does the $20 trick work on comped rooms? I'm just going solo, but I'm guessing only the larger rooms have the fridge.
I haven't looked around the casino much, but where are the elevators to the rooms/checkin? I'm really only been around the craps/BJ tables. And, Antonio's.
I'm guessing it's better/quicker to walk through the taxi/valet parking if I'm coming from the Walgreens?

there are only 3 types of rooms at the D.

1)regular room. i have stayed in them many times but don't actually know if they have a fridge i will ask tomorrow and update this post.

2)Jr. Suite a room with one king bed, but it's at the end of the hall and has a fold out couch and 2 chairs and a table. i'm comped in that room this trip. it has a fridge.

3)the suite. a full review can be found on vegas tripping. i am on my tablet so it's not easy to hyperlink. i have stayed in that room. it is a two room suite with one king bed, but plenty of space and couches in the outside room. there is only one bathroom, and it's attached to the living room.

IMHO, you should go through your host (if you have one). Once I had a history of play, I asked if I could be upgraded to a suite. I typically come down Sunday-Thursday, so it's easier to get an upgrade then. If you only need one bed, the $20 bill might work, but you might only get upgraded to the Jr. suite.

Regarding the hotel layout, the elevators are between the check-in area and the tables. Check-in is at the other end of the building from the tables.

If you are at Walgreen's, there is an entrance a few steps from there, but yiu'd have to walk through the entire casino with your bag(s). Easier to enter on the other side (near valet parking).

 

Sounds like the Jr suite would work for me. It's just me in the room, and I just need a bed to sleep/nap on. And, I figured that's where the check-in would be. I remember seeing the valet parking sign from the Walgreens, and the exit is at the 4Queens ally. So, thanks for confirming that for me. And, yeah, I'll be there Mon-Thurs, so I'll see with my host. This is the first time I've used 1 at The D, so not sure how well upgrading the room will go, but I did do most of my playing there last trip.

I guess the worst case would be to use my insulated backpack, and just fill it with ice. It should be able to hold a couple of drinks for the morning.

 

Thinking about staying at the D, do all rooms have safes?

 

Staying at the D for Super Bowl and have a rental car. How do you access the parking lot?

 

All the regular rooms I have stayed in have safes so I would assume all the rooms and suites do. They are in the dresser.

 

Access to the garage is off Third Street near Carson Avenue.

 

the parking garage is narrow and takes a while to get to get to the floor you are allowed to park in. Bottom 7 levels are reserved for Valet.
Best to be stone sober when driving up the ramp.

 

This is truth. The ride up to the self park is like a self controlled roller coaster with oncoming traffic . I recommend the valet

 

Thanks for the heads up. Usually parked at the Cal, but now they have been charging to park. Thought I'd try the D.

 

D is free for guest still, just sign the card with room number. I wonder if anyone could just do this instead of paying as they ask for room key
for proof. Or at least that is the way it was last stay there.

 

And it's a very low ceiling too. My sister met us in November with her Dodge Ram and it wouldn't fit. The valet said they had an open lot somewhere to park it so it worked out.

Most people with a rental stick to cars but if you're driving a pickup truck, be warned.

 

There are 2 types of corner kings. They are the ones with fridges.

The standard corner kings are on the lower floors. thats the difference. They are about $5 more then the standard rooms.

You have to pay the resort fee, its about $22 per night. I was told they discountinued comping it on comp rooms back in August but it wouldnt hurt to check.

The elevators are just a few steps from the check in area. You enter your floor number and it will tell you which elevator to get on. Dont just get into one because there are no buttons on the inside of them so you could end up riding up and down for a while.

 

For our comped room in November that we gave to my sister, she did the check out and wasn't charged. Maybe they realized we'd all be moving over to Boyd properties downtown.

 

I'm just glad I don't have to drive there. From the sounds of it, it's not much fun. I'll let the bus do the driving for me. Especially after drinking a few. Not good to be in jail on vacation.

 

I always get my resort fee comped with a comp room. However, that may be because of my play. I have had 3 stays there after August. Check with your host at checkout.

 

I was there in October and did not have to pay a resort fee on comped rooms.

 

That's one of the first questions I asked my host. And, they told me they never charge a resort fee on comped rooms.

 

I just booked a comp room for my stay in March and was told there is no resort fee.

 

Seems odd..... I was just there on the 8th-12th and paid resort fees on both the comp night and the nights I had to pay... It's right here on by bill in black n white.
