    Happy New Year!

My most recent mlife offer came in the mail and my wife ACTUALLY suggested going to Vegas with our kids. I have been to Vegas 5x and this would be my wife's first time. We have a 6 month old and a 4 year old. We have looked at other destinations but the idea of RFB and FP seemed to alluring for her as we would only have to pay for flights.

Good idea? Bad idea? I haven't fully decided myself which it is. Suggestions in things to do (if anything)
    Cheers

As long as they can hold their booze, why not?

I saw a baby in a stroller puke on a casino floor once. Pffft. Lightweight.

You got FP so you obviously gamble? Would your wife (or you) be happy sitting in the room by herself while you are gambling?

Do you like high-end restaurants? You likely wouldn't be going to them.

If you can swing it, I'd find a sitter for three days and take a short trip. JMO.

We haven't made up our minds if we will do this (which is why I asked for similar experiences) but for the points you bring up:
I would gamble after they retired for bed and likely lots of room service and or buffets. Sitter out of the question as youngest is still fed straight from the mommy

I think as long your wife knows what she is getting into, lots of being in the room. My husband actually loves staying in the room at night, playing on the internet and watching tv while I gamble and drink. Do some things together during the day with the wife and kids. There are things a 4 year old might like. Restaurants like Rainforest. I think y'all would have a great time.

Aside from asking how much to tip, you have just started the "WWIII" thread. But since you asked....

Leave the kiddos at home with grandma and a fridge full of breast milk. Vegas is for grown ups.

Lots of smoke in Vegas, pretty sure that isn't good for 6 month old lungs.

+6 !! No one under 21 has any business within a time zone of a casino. The arcades they provide are nothing more than slot machines for kids, in fact I think you can lose more quarters in the arcade than in a slot machine. Babies? Why on earth would you want to subject them to any of this.

I'm speaking as someone who has two grandkids under 7 who live in Henderson. Their parents refuse to take them anywhere there is gambling, and they have our full support. I took my son when he turned 21 and we had a great time. Give your kids something to look forward to in about 17 years. Until then, grandma's or separate vacations for the two of you.

Ok more WW III, bullshit kids in vegas are fine, kids in the casino?, not fine...but it's illegal anyways
so why are experienced vegas people bringing it up?

there very little smoking at strip pools and family friendly restaurants, our 3 kids love vegas
they love it more than Disney land or Six Flags in fact

but when we take them we usually take grandma or a sitter with her own room

because gambling isn't the only thing my wife and I do after spending all day with the kids

having said that, when all the kids are 3 or older, it makes walking easier...strollers aren't magic
but i think if it's your wifes first trip to vegas that she would enoy it as much as when the kids are older

I have seen young couples with babies and toddlers in Vegas and they were just fine. These young parents were responsible and sensitive to the needs of their children yet they were still able to have a good time.

The key here is common sense. Obviously there are some things you won't be able to do in Vegas because of the young'uns. Going down to gamble while the spouse watches the children and then switching off is a necessary compromise. Sometimes young people don't have the luxury of sitters or grandparents to watch their children.

You'd have to consider what kind of trip it would be. Is it you doing your usual gambling while the wife and babies are along? Or you'd try to make it a nice treat for your wife? Or you'd like to have a little time with your wife? That's something you'd have to figure out. If it was me, I'd really hesitate without a 3rd adult who understands what the deal is.

My wife usually hates Vegas! However, this year we happened to go multiple times as a family (3 young kids!). Summertime is more enjoyable with kids. Our routine is cabana at the pool during the day, as a family. In the evening, the wife and her sister would go to a concert while us guys have kiddie duty. When the wives return from their concert, it is gambling time for me...usually gamble from midnight to 4am. Sometimes I am dead tired after being at the pool all day, but just being in Vegas ends up giving me some extra energy!

We are taking our baby who will be 6 mos in April because of comped nights at the Bellagio, but we are also taking my Mother In Law so we will have an extra hand with watching when we want to go out to eat. There is a guy on here with the username Grid that has some nice trip reports with how him and his family do Vegas with a young kid (https://sites.google.com/site/lvgrid/journal-blog/o-baby-does-vegas). You should read them and re-think waiting if you really want to go.
