The weather forecast is calling for some snow on NYE in Las Vegas. Better pack our gloves in case we want to build a snowman!:wave::wave:

I work at a National Weather Service office in California and we just got through putting out a winter storm watch for the Mojave desert and Kern county mountains. The surrounding offices also did likewise. Although only a few inches is expected, that's all it will take to make a mess out of the already congested highways just prior to NYE.

If anyone is planning on driving to Vegas for NYE, I really suggest that you take a look at the most recent weather forecast. There may be some mountain passes closed and alternate routes necessary.

Are they still going to do the fireworks?

Why wouldn't they? Worst scenario is there are less people to watch.

If they cancel fireworks - it would be due to strong winds. And, that's not expected to happen.

Snow in Las Vegas? Cool. It would be beautiful on The Strip with all the lights.

We've had a couple New Year's visits with snow greeting us. Not exactly drifts or lasting, but snow, nonetheless. Kinda cool. (No pun intended.)

For those of you going this year for NYE PLEASE post picts and or videos. And especially if there's snow!
I'm sort of glad I'm not going this year because I'm that one crazy guy you always see wearing shorts and a jacket!

Looks as though they're backing off too much snow being in the forecast now for Las Vegas. It'll still be plenty cold, but there doesn't appear to be as much moisture in the storm as originally thought. It's coming though here (North Tahoe) now and it's very light and powdery.

It snowed quite a bit to the south side of town but there was a cold wind blowing down the strip from the north and I'd imagine that kept the moisture pushed off to the south

I was freezing while watching the fireworks from the Cosmo balcony. The only videos I have are super shaky since we were shivering so much. It was definitely a cool site to see.
