When I go to Vegas, I go with my wife and mother in law. We religiously stay at The Mirage (though do want to check out the Bellagio in the future).

I'm generally very happy with The Mirage, but the baccarat setup confuses me. Even on slowest days/times, the minimum is $25/hand. That would be fine if I was playing by myself, but with the three of us we're looking at $75/hand. I know years ago they would have $15 during the slow days, but my recent stay last week, one of the dealers said they have never had $15/hand tables.

So, for baccarat, we go across the street to play at Harrah's. Harrah's baccarat tables are always very active - generally because they have 2 $15 tables almost all the time. This last trip during one of the slowest weeks of the year, both $15 tables were full. Compare to Mirage, which is always very empty. They'll have 4 dealers in the baccarat room and nobody playing! Sometimes I will see 1 person playing at the $25 table. How does this make sense from a financial perspective?

Sorry, this turned out to be a rant post. Put a $15 table in The Mirage already!

Even when table was 15 and on main floor they still didn't have players. Not sure why exactly but they can't attract the right crowd to fill low limit baccarat. Their high limit used to be busy before aria. They are about to redo high limit and combine bj and baccarat.

Mirage used to have two $10 tables going when they were using the old scoreboard. This was during 2011. It is very quiet most of the times especially for baccarat action. They do have a good number of tables in the HL area. With the economy improving it is hard to find the really low limit tables now on the Strip. Only two casinos which are the Flamingo and Harrah's if you want to find $10/$15 bac. Or you can head to Gold Coast which is off Strip.

If looking for lower limit baccarat on the strip you have the following options:

Flamingo: Usually 1 or 2 tables open on main floor. They stay fairly busy.
Harrahs: Usually 1-3 tables open on main floor. They also have Midi for $50 which is the lowest midi I know of on the strip. You can request for the game to become midi.
Mirage: $25 and table is in high limit room.
Venetian/Palazzo: They have stadium bacarrat with a limit of $5 or $10.
Caesars: They have $25 on main floor.
Luxor: I haven't played here for several years but they used to have $10 on main floor.
    Paris: $25 on main floor
Planet Hollywood: $25 on main floor

$25 tables are a dime a dozen during the quiet times and low season. Yeah the lowest baccarat games can be found at the Palazzo with the Stadium Baccarat. Well second lowest. Caesars has the digital version at $1 which can be found the moment you step into the casino from the main entrance. Yet I wouldn't trust that game though because it is not a real deck and the way the shoe is recorded is kind of strange since ties are treated as an individual outcome with its own column. Cosmo has the Organic bac with the holograms but that is a dead area. Hardly anyone at those terminals. I remember it is around $10.

If a game uses something that represents a deck of cards it must function like a real deck of cards meaning the virtual and real life versions must have the same odds of making hands. The only way they could change the house edge would be to change the payout for a tie or change the commission on banker.

Yeah I guess it was 2010-2011 timeframe that I remember seeing the lower limit tables there. I've heard they might be intentionally fostering the quiet, higher limit environment, but I don't see how it makes any financial sense. Since the odds for a single baccarat game is pretty much 50%, the game is more profitable to the casino if they have lots of players consistently betting (and overall slowly losing) small amounts. Of course, consistently betting larger amounts is preferred, but I walk by the baccarat room frequently when I'm there and I just don't see them getting much action - generally, one person on the $25, if even that.

Harrahs works fine for me, it is what I've been doing since they changed it. That's the only gambling I do over there, though. I would prefer they put another $10-15 table back in The Mirage. I guess it does give me a good excuse to go over and get a KGBurger though.

Low limit tables ($25) on the Strip were abundant from 2010 to 2012 because of the Great Recession. Nowadays not so much. Most tables are either $50 to $100. There are times I drop by the Wynn especially at night there were two tables where $1,000 was the minimum. LOL. Maybe some of the players requested it but really... $1,000 as low limit. There are $25 tables like at Mandalay Bay, Encore, MGM Grand, and Aria for instance but that is during the quiet times of the day. Even Bellagio had them but from the number of times I have passed by since I moved back to Vegas this year I haven't seen those tables open.

Harrah's and the Flamingo are the only two casinos on the prime area of the Strip that maintain the low limit bac games with real dealers/decks at the present time. So if you want to look for a low limit game those two places are worth the visit.

in Nevada there is a state law that an electronic representation of playing cards must have the same probabilities as if a human being were dealing the game. To do business in Nevada a game maker must abide by this law in every machine it places anywhere in the world. So if they use major U.S. brands like IGT or Bally I’m sure the games are fair.
