First trip to Vegas was interesting (first time I'd ever flown). They kept backing the conveyor up and scanning my wife's carryon, must have done it 6 times.
I'd heard tons of horror stories about TSA so I'm wondering what the hell was going on, until I managed to work my way around and saw the screen.

She packed an extra bra in her carryon, also had some C batteries packed away for another device :evillaugh Apparently seeing those wires and the batteries made them look a little closer.

Not sure why they didn't open the bag up, must have seen what the batteries were for LOL

Your wife's "toy" was probably why they kept backing it up and not opening up her carry on, they didn't want to embarrass your wife. Can you imaging them going through your wife's carry on and bringing out her "toy" for everyone to see? Guess they tried to be more discreet by using the xray machine to determine if her item wasn't a threat. :evillaugh

I always have problems going through the xray, I usually carry a lot of wires for cel phone charger, laptop wires, my headphones and mp3 player, cords to charge my mp3 player, etc. They usually have to examine what all the wires are for (on the belt) and sometimes have to go through my carry on to ensure the wires aren't for anything dangerous.

They scanned it six times? Tell them, more than three times means they're playing with it.

Just the other day, flying out here from OMA. No checked bags, one carry on.

I did not get the Pre-Check this time, so it's through the line for the Great Unwashed Masses. I get through the x-ray peep-show machine :( just fine and I'm waiting for my bags.

Sure enough the belt stops and I can tell that my carry-on is the one they are looking at. :( He moves the belt back, stares at the screen, then motions for a supervisor to come over. They stand there and chat and point and such while moving the belt back and forth for what seems like hours! FINALLY they let it go on, not a word, no pull the bag out of line and inspect or anything. Oh well.

The only thing I can think of is that I have a zippered bag with an extension cord and the charger to the cell phone and the netbook in there. LOL, there's an electric toothbrush in there, maybe they thought it was a "toy" or something. :) :)

I know I didn't have any contraband or anything at all that's nasty in there, but it did make me kinda nervous.

Just makes me think of the Fight Club scene. And, don't you know they have plenty of stores for that out in Vegas. :)

My lady's "light" turned on on the baggage carousel once. The batteries have been unloaded ever since.

I heard that a good tip to avoid having your bag inspected is to keep the charger cords loosely jammed into the bag. Apparently bombers are meticulous about their supplies and neatly wrap their cords and wires. I don't know if it's true, but I saw it on the internet, so it must be.
