I was wondering how its set up in vegas

In ohio or west virginia or penn. All the casinos have security standing at all entrances checking i.d.s

I am taking my family of four wife and two daughters age 23. And 18

We wanted to walk around the hotels at times and see all the land. From one to the other. And the three of us of age maybe play some craps or slots

Are we gonna have problems. Getting in or stopping here and there due to my 18 yr old????

She wont be playing. But can she even get in. And do they walk around checking ids. Once we in if she is standing behind us ??

 

You won't have any problems walking though the casino, security doesn't stand by the doors, but if she's hanging out behind you at the tables, they probably will come by and tell her to move along.

 

Security does not Id at the door in Vegas like they do in Ohio, you and your family can visit all the properties you want. Security will be around and watching both uniformed and non uniformed as long as your 18 year old does not play or loiter in the casino you will be fine.

 

One evening last summer at the D downtown, there WAS a "suit" type security guy at the main entrance who was stopping and carding anyone who appeared to be underage.

 

The casinos in Vegas aren't really segregated from shops and restaurants as they are in some other casinos (I don't gamble other places so was very confused to be carded - at age 39 - going into Harrahs New Orleans ;-) In most cases, you do need to walk through the casino to access those places, or the rooms or pool.....

So you all should have no problem going into properties. But the 18yr old will need to wait in a cafe, in a store, at the Bellagio Conservatory etc - any place where someone of all ages could wait - while the rest of you gamble.

 

When my daughter turned 21 a couple years ago I brought her to Vegas for a short trip. She wasn't ready to try the tables but we hung back on a few so I could explain the games. In many casinos she was asked by the dealer for her ID even though we were just watching.

 

Just stay on the main lanes of traffic between the p[its and the tables and you will be fine. I see people with children walk through casinos all the time. As long as they aren't stopping at the tables, its no big deal

 

Yes, being underage and stopping in the casino is what's not legal. Walking through is fine. Stopping is not fine.

But when you've just turned 21, it's fun being carded

 

While she is standing behind you while you are gambling, she might be asked for I.D. and then security might tell her to move along.

One suggestion is maybe when you do decide to gamble, that you do at a casino where there is a shopping mall nearby, or a lobby area nearby where she can entertain herself shopping or reading a book or playing with her I-pad, etc.

 

The expectation is that she keep moving along in the casino. They won't have a problem if you stop to look at a statue or a fountain in the casino but she can't watch you gamble. Remember minors in the casino can cause problems with their gaming licenses. Vegas is under the same restrictions as the other jurisdictions, they just don't go as far as the ID checks at the door.

 

We had been to Vegas with me as a minor, then eventually one trip with a child in a stroller. It seemed the official policy across the board was that underage people can go through the casino, but they are supposed to stay on the main walkways and not enter the gaming areas at all.....usually in the casino areas this will for instance be a solid red carpet color indicating the walkway, and the gaming areas are the flower pattern carpet. I remember going downtown and the places that are just a casino can't allow entry to minors at all. The larger places that have a hotel and other sights are the ones that will allow the minors, but not in the gaming area, not even to watch.
