Considering something different for a three night long weekend trip in Feb/March. I have never been to that area save for Fort Walton/Destin in FL so looking for opinions and options. We are mainly CET players but, have some MGM play. It looks like we have an almost comp offer at Harrah's Gulf Coast but, Harrah's New Orleans is $260/nt!

    Beau Rivage is offering $120/nt.

I wasn't initially looking at this as a gambling trip and was looking at more south Florida but, then it dawned on me that I might have some offers for the NO/Biloxi area.

Any thoughts on the three hotels. Am I missing any I should consider? We are lower rollers but, pretty much get basic room comps in LV so looking at more than the gambling side of things. Day trips, restaurants, night life etc. Obviously New Orleans is what it is and we would spend some time there but, other stuff?

    thanks

Hilton New Orleans is on the Harrahs NO website. It is less expensive than Harrahs an clean/comfortable/convenient.

If you are playing MyVegas game, it has lots of Beau Rivage things including rooms on it. Hard Rock was giving away your choice of a T-Shirt or free buffet last spring for new players. Margaritaville gave free play to all new players. We stayed that trip at Harrah's Gulf Coast. They were in the process of remodeling the casino so it should really look nice now.

We stopped and played at Beau Rivage a few years back and since then have gotten offers for free airfare and hotel for 3 nights. It's a great hotel to stay in (although their video poker isn't the best), but they have $10 Pai Gow Poker tables which we love! There's an inexpensive Casino Hopper shuttle that goes to all the casinos in the area, so we can take that and put some points on our Boyd and Harrah's cards.

Harrahs New Orleans is always expensive, it's much better to stay somewhere else and just swing in there. As for Biloxi, I stayed at HGC last December (it was the Grand Biloxi then), and the area is pretty much a few casinos without much to do, unlike New Orleans. The casino there isn't huge, and it was real slow when I was there

Yup, this. I'm going this week, and had no availability or no comp nights at the casino hotel proper, but comped nights at the four or so other hotels in the area, including the Hilton. They come up as a room type on the rate calendar, and you have to scroll off the original room types to see most of them.

So I have done the Gulf Area casino trips a couple of times the past two years. Biloxi is a nice gaming destination, not sure the weather right now. Not much to do except the beach around there, light house, jet ski. I stayed at the Beau and Harrahs Gulf Coast. The Beau is really nice, you can see touches of the Bellagio in Las Vegas all thru that place. You can see Steve Wynn's handy work here. I really liked the pool deck that looks out on the Gulf. Rooms are a bit dated by today's standard, but were clean and nicely appointed, marble floors in bath, comfortable beds, etc.

Harrah's seemed like your run of the mill CET Harrah's brand property. I think the Golden Nugget is really nice as well. Experience wise its a lot like other pan handle towns on gulf with not much else to do besides gamble. So if your looking for a rounded vacation, your gonna have to get out of Biloxi.

New Orleans is a great city to visit. I personally love going in Feb a couple weeks before Mardi Gras or in October. Harrahs NOLA hotel is not that impressive, and a further walk to the quarter. Parking is free if you hit the daily play numbers.
Casino is nice, wish it was smoke free. I have stayed at partner hotels off Canal, these being Marriott, Sheraton, and Hilton RIverside. Personally I like the Sheraton the best. Rooms and hallways were worn at Marriott, but the rest of the hotel is really nice. Riverside is just to far to walk to back areas of quarter. Sheraton to me is perfect placement since your on the west side of Canal street but midway to all areas of the French Quarter. Everything is a short walk.

There is so much to do in NOLA. Shopping, great dinning, bars, street performers, and gaming. It's the better pick for more rounded vacation.

We stayed at the Doubletree which is literally just steps away from Harrah's New Orleans. I did not go to any other casinos in NO but did not have a need to.

Love New Orleans - much prefer it to Biloxi.

Literally thousands of hotel rooms easy walk to casino - so dont feel like you have to stay at the Harrahs
