Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the free stuff I will get when arriving in LV, but just talking about the following:

    * Can't book two awards twice
    * Taking away Aria room stays
    * Overpriced buffets
    * Making you stay at their property in order to be eligible for their offers

I guess I was spoiled when the game first came out.

Has anyone heard if this game is going away?

mLife won't comment, and (of course) my myVegas host says no.

IMHO and AFAIK, mLife controls what they will provide to myVegas, and economics dictate at this time that they don't need to.

mLife offered very attractive awards to myVegas hosted customers at Christmas, so I hope not.

The game isn't going away, its just going to be continually evolving as far as the rewards go to what best serves them as far as what rewards they give away and encouraging players to purchase more chips

I've never purchased chips, not once. I don't see the reason to. I guess I only go to Vegas twice a year, so I have time to build up the LPs by just collecting for free.

I don't either... I've got no problem where if I don't have any chips just waiting to build some up over a day or two.

But for this and a lot of other "free" games there are plenty of people that do. My wife plays one of those farmville games on her tablet and she spends $10-25 a month on Google Play cards - which really isn't bad for entertainment and how much she plays: if somebody had an Xbox or Playstation they probably wouldn't think twice about spending $60-70 a month on at least one new game so a little $10 here and $10 there for these facebook things seems cheap to a lot of people

Oh yeah. I play another free-to-play game religiously - I throw them 10-20 bucks a month for stuff even though I don't need to, just because I love the game and I want them to keep on adding things to it.

I don't purchase chips in myvegas because I'm not playing myvegas because I love watching spinning slots, I play myvegas because they're giving me free stuff in exchange for going to Vegas and spending money at their resorts instead of going somewhere else and spending money somewhere else. Would sort of defeat the purchase if it were free stuff I actually paid for. :p

I can't imagine it would make sense for them to take their ball and go home - most likely stuff will just keep getting more and more limited and less worth it, until it's just another groupon. Which, hey, I'd still use it, why not? (Technically it is already, with the paying resort fees - it's really just hotels like 80% off, not completely free. Which is great as long as it lasts, but even if they do away with the "free" stays, their redemptions for just extra-off stays could still be useful.)

Obviously I hope it goes on for as long as possible before they pull the plug on the "free" stuff, and I do imagine it'll be a while - they are still getting a lot out of it.

Even though I play it for free and have gotten free rewards....when we go to these hotels for the lunch or dinner buffet we definitely go and spend time touring the hotel, donate to the casino as well as attend a show. So even though it is free in the whole picture it gets us in their door and spend money at their establishment. We get a little something and so do they. I also wish the rewards would stop getting more and more restrictive.

I have no problem with it.

I am staying downtown but still redeemed for a show and buffet without having to stay at mgm properties. They just cost a few more points. not like i paid anything for the points so what do i care if it costs more?

It is becoming a pain, but not so much that I'm going to ditch it. My gripe is the limit on the number of times you can purchase your favorite rewards. I love the drinks at Sensi. I was able to purchase this 7000 cocktail reward twice, but no more. It never sells out, so why not let me have it dammit!? We shall see what happens with it. It has turned me into a strip monkey, but that is what my friends like anyway. Usually I go as a group and between all of us we do pretty well getting deals, thanks to MyVegas.

Ladies getaway, somewhere on the strip with a pool :)

I am in the same boat as you, the 4 of us do a great job at getting deals. In other news, I have stayed away from the room awards on MyVegas:

    1) They have a VERY limited schedule of when you can stay, unless you're in love with Excalibur or Luxor
    2) You now have to pay the resort fee
    3) I like staying mid-strip, which means I don't really want to stay at the MLife properties (mostly south strip)
    4) CET comps way better, so even if I stay at the Mirage (MLife) I tend to play at the Flamingo (just good luck there) and I like my CET points to build.

Don't blame the game - they aren't coming up with the rewards. Blame MGM for making them so unattractive and hope that they add additional partners where we can use rewards. Please join in Southwest!

DH & I play MyVegas and still think the rewards are sufficient and we don’t mind price increases; as in daily living it’s all about supply and demand. We only play for free as we enjoy playing slots and it’s a fantastic way to pass time when we are bored. Before MyVegas we used to pay for cirque shows, full price for dinners at some of the restaurants you can buy rewards for etc. This game is a bit of a perk as we go 3-4 times a year without it we wouldn’t have tried some of the restaurants or seen some of the cirque shows. We have been lucky and gotten any rewards we’ve wanted prior to a trip and sometimes back to back trips.

I don’t believe MyVegas is going anywhere, look at the player base and the success the game has. Talk to anyone in a MLife booth redeeming your rewards they are quite busy with redemptions on a daily basis. Adding of new partners keeps the game fresh and changing rewards keeps players playing (even those complaining I am willing to bet still play). Yes, in the beginning the rewards seemed much better, but the demand wasn’t there; it’s what some would call hook, line and sinker! They got us playing, talking about the game and then they added in advertising and voila! The game is a huge success, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more successful than they thought it ever would be.

The cost for the rewards in my opinion are not overpriced it’s all about how popular the rewards are; higher demand, higher pricing. Having to stay at a MLife resort is a smart move on MGM’s part as they realized a lot of the players were coming in for just the freebie (not saying everyone is but I wouldn’t doubt most did). The MyVegas groups is just a small sample size of players, and while you will read many gripes over there, it really is a small sample of the actual player base.

My thinking is if you think it’s a waste of time due to the restrictions or costs of rewards, maybe it’s time to stop playing. Why do something that makes you unhappy? Life is to short to be complaining about something that is in actuality free and not life altering. Enjoy and reap the benefits of what the game can do for you  :)

Honestly the MGM resorts kind of sucks to begin with. I would never stay in the low end ones. The only exception would Bellagio, MGM Grand or Aria. As for the rewards being crappier, I do have to agree with that. I do play the game to collect rewards but it's so-so when the reward was bad. Maybe when I hit 1million I'll use it on the cruise.

I have no idea if mlife considers this a pro or a con, but every time i was in line at the mlife desk this weekend at various hotels (MB, luxor, aria, Monte Carlo) there were always people redeeming MyVegas rewards (myself included). I feel like their lines have had to increase drastically- there were 7-8 people ahead of me in line at Luxor and I think 6 of them were there for myvegas. When I was there in July I didn't see nearly as many people redeeming.

I Don't think there is anything wrong with expressing my disinterest with the changes of the game. It has really gone downhill!

I rarely play now. I have 500,000 LPs and have 0 clue what to do with them. I might end up buying some cirque tickets and give them to my parents when they come down for the wedding.

My ridiculousness has seen my red chip balance drop from ~20 million, where it was around for 2-3 weeks, to under 1 million in the three days since I've spent gold coins on a reward.

It's like a cash out curse or something. :D
