OK, what would you do? Up $800 in the first 5 minutes

Went to a local Indian casino on the way to pick up my 13 year old son from visitation. My trip window is 3 hours.

I get $60 FP every day at this casino. My strategy is to go into the High Limit room and use FP and $100 there, and see how it goes.

I hit this in the first 5 Minutes

    20141214_800.dollar.jpg

    So now my dilemma is:

1)WTF do I do now? I just got here.

    2)$800 is $800 do I just leave?

3)I'm not due at my exes house for another 3 hours.

That's what I hate about these "trips of opportunity".

I ended up deciding to have lunch and leave, more money for my NYE trip to LV.

    What would you have done?

I'd like to think that I'd do what you did: have lunch and leave. I doubt I'd have the discipline to do it though.

Since this was just a 3 hour trip then would have stopped.
If I had extra time to kill and wanted to stay I would have put on my iPod and slowed play on the VP machine.

I low roll it, or find something else to do. Bigger NYE roll sounds better to me personally.

I'd go fishing with another 200 bucks. Then take off and run some sort of errand to kill time

The smart thing to do was what you did, what I would have done is kept playing and lost most or all of it back. Then I'd spend the rest of the day muttering to myself.:wink2:

With just a 3 hour window, you basically had three choices ... 1) - run another $100 or so through that "lucky" machine, or 2) - find a nickel VP machine, and kill some time ($100 max), or 3) - take your profits, and leave (good choice !!!).

Back in September, my wife and I had 7 nights at Main Street Station. On the 2nd day, I hit a $1000 Royal ... and kept playing. On the 3rd day, I hit another $1000 Royal ... and kept playing. After all, we still had 4 more days, and we kept on playing ...... lost some of it, but we had fun, and came home on the plus side.

Well, I played RUMBLE RUMBLE, and hit a bonus and made another $100, but pi**ed it away playing some other new machines.

I knew that if I didn't leave I'd give it all back.

After lunch, I played $5.00 Gozen (Japanese female archer) slot machine and made $50.00 at that point, I knew that "enough is enough".

I think I got my fix until NYE.

Everything is relative. I rarely play $1 machines but if a $2 per spin slot paid me $80 it's the same as your $20 per spin paying $800. I'd cash out the $80 and put in another $20. So, all things being relative, I"d keep playing. Things being absolute, if I won $800, I'd cash out and chill and chill some more.

800 bones in five minutes. You did good. I'd book that win any day of the week.

being concerned about what to do with the three hours is the chief problem with putting a time limit vs a money won/loss limit on gambling. To my way of thinking, I always have a percentage gained / lost that is my "stop play" button. Once reached , I'm done for that session / day. If $800 was my goal, I'm done in five minutes with no regard for the rest of the time.

I had to throw away a lot of winnings and incur many deeper losses by playing to a time limit. Since the switch I find myself much more relaxed, never pressing, and the gains/losses have narrowed considerably.

If in Vegas with a number of days left I would probably spread the amount evenly over the days left. In your situation I think you did well (especially with a trip coming up) to walk away.

And yeah, instead of a hooker, just get an escort for 2 hours and go pick up the kid, and yeah, smirk at the ex a couple of times as well. Escorts aren't hookers are they? lol

Yep...the Ex would be impressed that you have to pay for it. She'd be smirking at you.
