After our Badgers got blown out by Ohio St, we were thinking Tampa at New Years for the Outback Bowl, WI vs Auburn would be nice in the middle of winter.

$1,500 for the two of us for airfare. That didn't count hotel or game tickets.

Oh well, we'll just add another Vegas trip.

I've pretty much given up on going to bowls. And for most road games unless it's on the level of LSU v Bama in 2011 for the game in Tuscaloosa, you're getting hosed on ticket price and location. I went to LSU v Wisconsin in Houston this year but I live there so no hotel or travel cost and it's a mini home-game for LSU. But I ordered tickets for the road games vs Arkansas and A&M. A couple of weeks prior to the game LSU was selling lower level tickets on their website while they allocated me upper deck tickets. I couldn't dump those tickets for even $20 on stub hub. I had to eat the cost as my plans changed and i couldn't make the game. For A&M I sat 2 rows from the top. In a 105k seat stadium that's really high up! And for home games it was next to impossible to get rid of tickets against teams not named Ole Miss or Bama. I actually sold a ticket (one of the bad games) for $10 and a warm Bud Light outside the stadium to a friend's brother. I'm getting really jaded. I've got a 65in TV and a kegerator at home, it's looking better every season.

I'm from Buffalo, but I grew up a lifelong LSU fan. There was no way my parents were gonna fly me a thousand miles to Baton Rouge for a football game, so I swore that when I was older I would see LSU play in every single stadium in the SEC. So far, I've seen them play in eight stadiums, with my hotel reservations and flight already locked down for South Carolina in 2015. I live in DC, so it's too expensive for me to do more than one game a year, once you account for flights, rental cars, StubHub tix, jacked up room rates, etc.

That said, I'm going to the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 20, just because I have use it or lose vacation time so why not?

What turned you into an LSU fan being from Buffalo?

I've seen LSU in all SEC stadiums except for @Kentucky and @Mizzou. I sort have seen them @Ark but I've only gone to the game when it was in Little Rock. I have not been to Fayetville. SoCar is missing a little something since it's an off-campus stadium but is still a decent roadtrip as Charleston isn't too far. Be sure to check out the Cock-a-boose before heading into the stadium, it's def unique and adds to the flair of college football.

Joe, I'm from Tampa and just moved from there recently. Did you look into possibly flying into Orlando (sometimes it's cheaper)? The drive from Orlando to Tampa is very easy (usually less than an hour), and Raymond James stadium is s very nice stadium to watch games at. Im going back to Tampa for the holidays (not for cheap either), but figure Southwest should come in cheaper RT for two. They do have a nice Hard Rock casino in Tampa as well, which I used to frequent.

It's better you don't go. Auburn should give them a beating:poke:

Check with Allegiant. They tend to do charters to games where they are already into the market.

I'm staying at this hotel that's like a block from Five Points...you can see what I prioritize in life.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up on the Cock-A-Boose...I'll make a point of checking it out.

it is sad and especially for the "also-rans" bowls as neither team Joe mentions is going to win the title. It is for the fans and loyal followers / alumni. You would think packages in a rather large number would be available for purchase including ticket and hotel (maybe in and out fast) that could be acquired and just as on airlines; "need an i.d. to verify you are the purchaser" to hold the secondary market sales down......

Going from central texas to the Alamo Bowl (or whatever it is today) is expensive MUCH more than the 60" can bring it......and that is sad....

Bowl games are travel rip offs because of the short window of planning, the fact they are held during the busy holiday travel season and jacked up prices bowl cities charge for lodging, tickets, etc.
It is a luxury for the rich alumni.

Being a Minnesota Gophers fan I'm just excited I actually get to see them play in a New Years Day bowl while I'm in Las Vegas.

But I have to agree going to bowl games is certainly for the rich alumni

If Vaught-Hemingway is not one of the eight that you have already watched the Tigers play in, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us for some food, more drinks, and plenty of fun at our tent in The Grove. We have a lot of fun but aren't quite as up-scale as some of our neighbors (no chandeliers at our tents but we do have a flying shark above our tents) but I guarantee that you will have fun with us. A friend of mine that is a professor at Ole Miss was meeting with two representatives of the Sugar Bowl committe during the Auburn game weekend and he sent them to us (The Lauderdale Rebel Club) so that they could meet some "real people" who knew how to have a good time. They had a blast, especially since two of our core members are a couple from Baton Rouge and they fed the Sugar Bowl people gumbo & jambalaya. The only thing that they liked better was the chocolate covered bacon that another of our members always brings. We always have a good many LSU fans hanging around our place when we play in Oxford. You would fit in fine. Next year's game is in Oxford so be giving it some thought.

Hey man I really appreciate this but I went to Ole Miss in 2013. Had an amazing time. Stayed at a spectacular B&B (The Z, a couple blocks off The Square), and everyone there was incredibly warm and welcoming (except the other LSU fans, who were at best drunken buffoons). But yeah I had a blast in Oxford and I really appreciate the outreach. My budget will pretty much relegate me to the South Carolina game in 2015, but I could definitely see wanting to recreate the Oxford experience. The town was so nice, I could even see flying to Memphis on a non-game weekend, getting comped in Tunica, and then just getting a hotel for one night in Oxford just to have a blast around the Square and have my run of the place.

Driving is more practible right now as gas is 1.99 or less in the south. I checked too as I'm a season ticket holder. Cheapest I found was 438 a piece out of St.Paul. I said screw it as I heard from a good source that Wisconsin may change its non conference schedule as I hear a game AT UNLV next year--let's hope!
