Got in two days of golf this trip. First played Badlands. Desperado and Outlaw. Played with a couple Korean guys that deal at Caesars. Nice guys but didn't speak a lot of English. Played the same 9s in July off the tips but played them off the blues this trip (that's one tee closer than the tips) and had a much better experience. Hit the ball pretty well after a shaky start on the first hole. Course seemed "dry". Greens held fine. Hit the rental Callaway X2 hots irons just fine. The woods seemed to have some draw bias to them helping to turn my draw into a hook. I don't need any anti slice help.

Played Angel Park Mountain a couple days later. This is a more "resort" style course. They allow denim and allowed my wife to ride with me. It was her first time on a golf course so I was excited to have her with me. They paired me up with some German guys. Nice guys but didn't speak a lot of English. Wanted to rent the AP1 irons but they only had them in regular flex so I wound up with TM Speedblades. I much preferred the X2 Hots. In fact I just picked up a set of X2 Hot Pro irons but haven't played with them yet. Angel Park was more crowded than Badlands and a lot more player friendly. Decent course. Better than I was expecting. Pretty easy tee to green but the greens ate me up. Some guy in the pro shop said the greens were rolling at 11 on the Stimp meter. I don't know how accurate that is but they were FAST and a little bumpy. It's been a long time since I played on greens that fast. Didn't keep count but I could have had 70+ putts. And not just the putting but the fast greens put a lot of stress on your spin control. My wife was disappointed in my play and realizes her dream of being a pro golfer's wife ain't gonna happen with me.

We played Angel Park also last SB trip Jan/Feb 2014. I agree with your assessment. Shot a 92 which would be disappointing at home but must of had 49 putts (no kidding). It would be "get it in the circle" (mythical gimme range) and it would roll and roll and roll. But not bumpy then. I liked the course but liked it more after I would get to my ball and then look back and say...."Ohhhh, I shoulda been over there...."

Used GolfNow and got a great rate though so it was satisfying.

    Only 49 putts, you're a better putter than I.

check out the app called "Last Minute Golfer" It's run by golfnow but offers much deeper discounts. Not a great selection of tee times but if the stars align, you can save some bucks.
