Yes, it's pretty crowded on football days. Non Smoking. No free drinks. Horseplayers can get (hand written) comps from the supervisor. Not even worth the effort for me. The adjacent 32 Degree bar has playable VP and good drink service. Get there early to get a seat on Sundays. Vig deli has pretty good food. Fish and Chips is surprisingly good.
A couple dissenting thoughts: 1) was there last Saturday...place was pretty empty as it has been my last 5-6 times there. Cantor (who runs the book) wants to drive everyone to their mobile site so you can tell by how many people they staff there. Sundays are busier, but a few years ago felt like I had to get there two hours early to get a seat...now I can get one 30mns early and be very safe 2) Upmann is right on the smoking and drinks...you do get comps for horse racing bets...both drink tickets and points you can redeem 3) NO INTERNET ACCESS even if you want to pay (see my mobile comment for the reason). If you are staying in the hotel you can only get access (other than in your room) in the BabyCakes coffee café...no where else on the casino floor 4) I don't like VIG deli, but they do have a soda machine so take your own cup This used to be my go-to location to spend the day, but now I tend to go to one of the Stations properties or elsewhere. Hope this helps.
I don't think any sportsbook gives out free drinks to football players any more not like the older days in the 90's
The offstrip sites are still pretty good about that. You can get tickets at SouthPoint for sure and, at least, for the Boyd properties they are very generous with tickets for horse players, but not sure about football as I tend to place those wagers offshore. I used to go to the Venetian all the time and they would provide free drinks with no ticket. They evolved to a ticket for a $20 wager, it went to $50 and now I think you have to beg even if you are wagering hundreds. This goes right along with them not offering free drinks at the bar when you play video poker. I gave up those properties long ago. The balance sheets for these properties including CET reflects how they have changed the way they serve customers. Vegasmann....you are right I am speaking of the 90's and very early 2000's.
Yes i remember at the old excalibur SB would get my drinks for free and would not even ask me to see my bet tickets. yes my last stay at the South point got tickets playing Football but not for preimum Drinks like Heninkens.
