Maybe it's just me but we just spent two days at Main Street, played there for quite a few hours and couldn't even get one 4OAK. Maybe just my bad luck but it's never been that bad before.

Just a run of bad luck.Tightening or loosening a VP machine does not change the odds of getting any particular hand. What they change is the payout.

The already closed the Pasta Pete across the walkway and that was after Joe's last trip......hmmmm I think he is going in November and December also......geez! I wouldn't be surprised if they just took them all out before my next trip........

    thanks again Joe......

(what are we going to do with you?)

As I understand it, the only way to "tighten" a VP machine is to change the payout schedule. Regardless of the pay schedule, all cards must be dealt in a random fashion.

This is correct and no offense to the OP, but you just hit a bad streak, no management tampering. If it says 9/6 JOB, then it is an expected return of 99.54%. That doesn't mean you will get $99.50 back on a hundred dollar investment, just that over the long term, that is what the expected pay back will be.

And hey, stop blaming me for bad luck and restaurant closings! :poke:

If the outcomes are random, how can they tighten them?

I just got back from 3 days at MSS and also hit a run of bad luck. If I didn't know better, I would have wondered the same thing! But I was there Labor Day weekend, and almost couldn't lose, so it all balances out. Bad part was, I couldn't win anywhere else downtown either, this trip. Good thing I went to Reno before I came home

    Joe, blaming you is fun!

OK, so I didn't have luck at MSS this time. It was just discouraging as I've had other times where I got a royal there or several 4OAKs. This trip, I won at other places but couldn't do anything right at MSS, where we were staying. Too bad with all my winnings at the other casinos, I put it all back in.
Can't win them all (and I know we shouldn't plan on it)

They can't. The only way to reduce return to the player is to change the pay schedule, which, of course, you can check by looking at
    the posted pay schedule.

100% sure it is all in fun. Because you are a highly respected icon at MSS. And for Downtown, for that matter. Heck, maybe you are regarded as "The Man" in Downtown Las Vegas!

I had a chance to look over as a machine that was opened being worked on and the screen had a list of commands one being payout. Got me wondering?

Only by changing the pay table (which is listed on the machine).

    Did you read post #6?

Me too. But if never read Indiana law, I would say Horseshoe Hammond's games tightened up too even though the paytables stayed unchanged based on today's play...:grrr: I hate crap luck.

    Spent 4 nights 2 MSS, Oct. 30 - Nov. 3
Had many quads playing $1 VP near Boar's Bar.
In fact, I counted 9 quads on ONE machine.
    Had 3 sets of $1 Ace's too.
I also made Emerald this trip!

I'm being facetious, but who said the outcome is random?
