I know the Hilton (or whatever it's called now), has the theater setup for NFL Sundays. Do they still have that type of setup at the Stratosphere ? Any others?
I'm a local and have grown tired of the "theater" at LVG, now the Westgate. I have become a big fan of the Cantor books. Tropicana and the Palms are run by Cantor and they are fabulous venues.
Yes, The STRAT still has the viewing party on Sundays and in my opinion is far superior to the Westgate. First of all the seating is better since you have a booth and a table. There are cocktail servers and they are fairly liberal with the drink tickets when you make your bet. You can also order food if you want it. There are a couple of blackjack tables in the back with hottie dealers.
Thanks Wedge. I enjoyed the Strat setup better because you could bring your own food/drink in there and the setup was generally very user friendly. Guess I'll be headed there again this weekend!
You can bring your own food/drink into just about any book in town. I often will have a small packpack with a soft sided cooler with a 6 pack. It's Vegas, you can come and go with your own food and drink to just about anywhere.
Yep, except the Westgate viewing party. Tried to bring in a fountain soda and a bag of chips in with me, and was told I had to throw it away and buy food and drinks inside. So, Stratosphere it is.
The nice thing about Westgate (LVH) is that you can saunter in 10 minutes before gametime and still get a nice seat. Is the same true of the Strat? Or does it suffer from the same thing as all the other sportsbooks where you have to show up an hour and a half early?
You should be able to get a good seat if you show up 10 minutes prior to kickoff. I never chance it though, I get there at about 10 minutes before the doors open (9:00) to get my pick of tables.
Did 2012 and 2013 fall NFL/ NCAAF trips and spent the NFL portion of the trip at the Strat. Wedgefromhere hit it on the head. Satellite betting inside the room also. Lots of NFL fans with jerseys on. Pretty good crowd.
Not true, I have a medium sized, soft sided cooler (with an over-the-shoulder strap that fits nicely in my carry-on). I walked through the Mirage to talk to a friend and security met me and told me I couldn't bring it in. I dropped them a few beers and walked over to Caesars and drank my beer in their sports book. I brought bottles of Jack Daniels and Jameson to the Aria sports book last January during the AFC/NFC Championship games and the waitress said they were throwing people out for having their own alcohol. I tipped her $70 on the spot and we didn't have any other issues with her. She kept the diet coke flowing the rest of the afternoon. Personally, I have no problem buying beer or liquor in a sports book. Their waitresses are EXTREMELY slow though (especially Caesars). I'd rather bring my own, feed myself, and just pay them for the privilege of doing so.
Interesting thread! I would have never guessed the Strat to be a place to watch football but may have to check it out. Ive done Legasse's the last few trips because we didn't want to show up early to save seats... and their cost was decent. Any other venues (outside of bars) that you can get reserved seating?
Just got back from Vegas and it just amazes me that the Strat doesn't get more people on Sundays. They have a great set up and do a great job of making it a first-class experience. Maybe part of this is because Vegas is a little slow this time of the year. Can't wait for my next trip during March Madness.
The Mirage is a humungous sports book with multiple ways in and out. If you can't discretely enter with your soft sided cooler you are doing something wrong. Just put it in a shopping bag to conceal it. It's not like they are checking your bags when you enter a book.
