Just received an offer from the Riveria Sept - Dec and one needs to call for weekend rates but during the week and depending on the month a number of days are $19 and another month $21. Everything being equal they are not bad rates. IMHO

I stayed at Caesars palace for free, also Rio, Bally's for free. I just came back from PHO for free. I am staying at PHO again in Nov. for free. That's 9 weeks in 3 years..........free. Looked at my rate calender for 2015, once again, some hotels are free.
Plus, i can walk or take the free shuttles/trams to most casinos.......free.
But in the meantime, you can match that offer/rates now Downtown, off Strip, and mid-south strip.

Update: Stay at Riviera. As GChrome mentioned, we need to keep Riviera alive as well as the North Strip. Please spend your money at Riviera. I hit Riviera a couple of weeks ago and i saw tens of people in the Casino. Help support the Riviera and the North Strip by staying there and playing there. YOU are the chosen one...........YOU will be the one that puts the North Strip back into relevance.
Don't mess it up.............the country, and the world, is depending on YOU.........have a wonderful time staying and playing at the Riviera, remember, you can have some fun, but the importance of this mission, should you take it, far outreaches what you'll derive out of it..........but what a nation derives.

The rooms are available to the general public on their website for about $20-$29 for most weekdays, so that offer isn't much of a discount.

Just got back from 4 days at the Riv. Riv was alright, I enjoyed the trip. I played about 2 hours of craps a few months ago, buying in for $400, average bet was $5 on the pass line and $25 odds with a few numbers working. Got 3 nights free in the mail.

Like a previous poster mentioned the offer that you got doesn't sound much better than what's available to the public. However, the good thing about booking through the players club is that they wave the resort fee.

I'm sure Total Rewards values your play to give all those rooms for free, bully for you. Not everyone gets free rooms, even guests of Rio, Bally's, and CP. But, I wouldn't count these places in the same class as the Riviera where a little slot play will get offers.

A couple years ago I would occasionally get two free nights, but last October I used an offer for three nights @$19 per night, no resort fee. Probably saved me $100 compared to rack rates plus resort fee. Plus, I could walk to the convention center. The 3-2-1 drink special at the lobby bar is a great deal too. It was a busy time and rates for hotels associated with my trade show were $150 and up. I was traveling solo, I pay my own expenses, and the Riviera was perfect. $3 for a Crown and Ginger was a good deal as well, but I guess high rollers never "pay" for drinks either.

Best CheeseSteak on the strip is from the Riviera food court. Always make my way there when in town. Vegas 2014 BB 179.jpg

So is it worth doing half my trip at Circus Circus (stayed in the casino tower last time it was nice, not plush..but nice)

Maybe I'll tweet them to see if I can get an upgrade to the penthouse

Unless you want to re-live nights spent at your grandparents house (the age of dated rooms), I would not pay to stay here.

Are you referring to the Mardi Gras rooms or just the rooms in general. That being said for the price( $15,17 or 19 or somewhat near those and no resort fees it works for me) and considering I'm in the Mardi Gras Tower, I'm happy. Remember, you need to be happy not me.:rolleyes2:

At this point I have no desire to stay at the Riviera even if the room was comped. During our first trip to Vegas we stayed at the Sahara. That was in 2008. I think the Sahara was in a better shape in 2008 than the Riviera is right now. No atmosphere, dingy place with worn out rooms and a crappy pool area. Just my feelings about the place, others may disagree.

I plan on stopping in there when I visit SLS to gamble. I did not hate it the last time I was in there, all I need is good games with lower limits. If they still have the $5/$10 single zero roulette that is worth a drop in for me.

Enjoy your stay and report back how you liked it.

I love the Riv! Infact it's the only place on the strip I stay. Can't beat the prices and if you like a nostalgic feel as I do, it should interest you as well. I've been staying at the Riv since the early 90's and it;s treated me well. I'm not one who cares to have a fancy room just something comfortable and the Riv rooms are fine for me.
I was there in September and it definitely seemed to be picking up.
Not trying to sound like a schill for the Riv but I do like the place.
    Hope this helps, Jim

The Rivera was the first place we ever stayed at in Vegas. It brings back good memories. We never had a bad experience there. The people are nice and the rooms are plain but fine. Who spends a lot of time in the room? We just got those mailers. They are celebrating their 60th anniversary. We were just talking about maybe going there for old times sake.
