    My Trip Report

I have been a member on this board for a few years now yet I have never posted a trip report. As I thoroughly enjoy reading all the other trip reports I thought it was about time I posted one of my own!

My last trip was in July 2014 and was to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of a good friend of mine called Jerry who I have known for about 15 years since High School. Jerry is the first of my group of friends to get married and he always said his stag do would be in Vegas, and he didn’t let us down! My other good friend Tommy was the best man and had the job of organising a trip for us to Sin City. Tommy lives in Gibraltar and he did an excellent job of arranging the trip even though we are all based all over Europe and some even further afield.

As the trip was over 3 months ago now a lot of the details have faded from my memory so this report may take a slightly different format than others and I will just be sharing some stories and pictures from the main highlights of each day of our trip (it was difficult to piece together what actually happened when we arrived home, let alone 3 months later). As we all know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so I have changed some names for the report, and ‘disguised’ the stag on the pictures!

    Thursday
After months of planning and saving up 10 of us were booked on Virgin Atlantic flying from Manchester to Las Vegas. The flight time of about 11 hours was made bearable by many free beers and some surprisingly decent grub. There would be another 3 guys joining us from elsewhere in the world (Sydney, Spain and Scotland) making a total of 13 guys. Most of the guys had been to Vegas at least a couple of times but there was 2-3 people who had never been. I always like travelling with people who haven’t been before just to see their jaw hit the floor at the first sight of the Vegas Strip!

We arrived in Vegas at about 2pm and I had arranged a limo to pick us up from the airport. This was arranged through LasVegasTruckLimos.com and we ended up phoning our driver Justin most nights and he was always very reliable and friendly. I think it worked out $20 each including a good tip (10 of us), which included some beers in the back and the driver taking the long way round to Caesars, not bad at all and was a great way to start our trip.

We were booked into Caesars Palace for 5 nights and after the 1 hour check in we headed to our rooms. I was in a Roman Tower 3rd floor room which I can honestly say was probably the worst room I’ve stayed in on any trip to Vegas (and I stayed in Excalibur on my very first trip). But hey on a trip like this we would be spending very little time in there so it didn’t bother me too much (there wasn’t even a minibar!?).

I did what I always do and throw the bag in the room and head straight down for the first blackjack session. There is no taste quite like that first beer after a long flight! I generally play $10-25 a hand and try my best to stick to basic strategy. I enjoy the social aspect of blackjack and meeting new and interesting people. I had never stayed in Caesars before so was quite excited to tick another strip hotel off the list but by the end of this trip I was quite disappointed with Caesars and I don’t think I would book to stay there again.

The first night we headed to Tryst nightclub at the Wynn. Normally I am not a fan of paying for table service etc as this isn’t something we are used to doing at home, but it turned out to be a great night, plenty of drinks and partying and generally a good warm up for the big weekend ahead of us. I think we left Tryst at about 2 or 3am and the jet lag was certainly kicking in by this point! Highlights of this night included one guy in our party, who shall remain nameless, being escorted back to his room by security having lost his pants, wallet and mobile phone.

    Friday
The Friday was spent lounging around the pool drinking case after case of Corona and debating the plans for the Friday and Saturday night. At this point I will need to fast forward to the Saturday night as the Friday became one big blur, all I know is it involved lots of blackjack, drinking AMF’s, and then a trip to Voodoo Lounge (see picture below with the biggest security guy I have ever seen). That’s all I can remember!

    Saturday
Saturday came and we had a surprise up our sleeve for Jerry. We had arranged for the midget Selwyn Emerson Miller (AKA 5 Cent) to be handcuffed to Jerry for the evening. See pictures below (Jerry is the guy with the glasses and the big nose). Now 5 Cent was genuinely one of the nicest and most interesting guys you could meet, he really kept us entertained with treating Jerry as his “bitch” for the night and his terrible rapping! We spent the evening in Lily bar at Bellagio which is one of my favourite bars in Vegas. I think it has a great vibe, the staff are very friendly, great drinks and music. I always make sure to visit there on each trip. If you go make sure to grab some 2 for 1 drinks vouchers from the girl near the Bellagio shops.

After Lily Bar we said goodbye to our midget friend and headed over to NYNY for some gambling. Some of us went for a few beers in Coyote Ugly to round off the evening. Jerry ended up being completely abused by the cowgirls and ended up with pen all over his face and his boxer shorts ripped off and tied around his head. Brilliant!

    Sunday
On Sunday we had tickets to go and see Calvin Harris at Wet Republic. Justin picked us up in the limo and we headed over and were shown to our table which was in the covered area near the bar. This turned out to be one of the best days I’ve ever had in Vegas! I had been to see Calvin Harris a year earlier on a trip with two other friends, but being in a big group with a table just took it to the next level. We definitely spent over our budget and I was thankful that some guys had brought credit cards to cover the bill at the end!

    Monday
Our last full day arrived and we spent the day at the pool and a couple of hours on the swim up blackjack which is good fun. Jerry was dressed up as a ‘droopers’ girl which provided the entertainment for the afternoon.

As it was our last night and conscious of the long journey home the next day we decided to go for a nice steak and Joes Steak and Stone Crabs in the forum shops. As there was about 12 of us we were seated in ‘The Boardroom’ at the back of the restaurant which is a great private dining room. I ordered the fillet steak with all the trimmings, it was DELICIOUS, washed down with some nice red wine chosen by our resident wine ‘expert’ (the guy from Sydney). It was a great meal and it was nice to chill out for a couple of hours after 3 days of drunken chaos.

After Joes we headed over to NYNY to watch Zumanity. This was the strangest show I’ve ever seen. Some acts were brilliant, some were terrible, and some were just not suitable for a stag party (two guys kissing…)!! Not a show I will be watching again.

    Tuesday
Spent the morning doing some last minute shopping in the forum shops, then some blackjack in Bellagio (my favourite casino). Headed to the airport for our afternoon flight to London, eventually arrived home Thursday morning and spent the next three days asleep!!

Some other points I want to mention:

    Hotel
This was my first stay in Caesars and I was pretty disappointed, not just with the room, I can live with that, but I just didn’t get the same buzz in the casino that you get in many other big strip hotels.

    Gambling
I didn’t do anywhere near as much gambling on this trip as I had planned. I mainly play blackjack and I had a pretty bad first couple of sessions which put me off for a day or so. On roulette I did hit about $60 on number 32 in NYNY on the last night which was a nice way to finish! I actually took my winnings and walked away as we were going to see zumanity. 10mins later I walked past the same table and noticed 32 had come in again on the following two spins!! I was delighted with my win obviously but a bit gutted at what could have been!!

    Restaurants
We went out for a few nice meals, most notably Joes Steak and Stone Crabs as mentioned. Would highly recommend this to anyone planning a small gathering of 8-12 people. Food and service fantastic. Also ate at Beijing Noodle No. 9 at Caesars which was tasty and great value for money.

    The wedding
Jerry married his girlfriend in a lavish ceremony in a castle in Ireland in October, it was great for all the boys on the stag party to be re-united. Tommy contacted 5 Cent and he agreed to send Jerry a video message which was played during the best man speech. He reminded Jerry that he will always be his “bitch” and gave a shout out to his “UK entourage”. Very funny indeed!

As mentioned earlier I already have my next trip booked for July 2015 I will be travelling with my girlfriend to California for a week then to Vegas for a week, I’m guessing it will be a ‘quieter’ trip than this one and I will hopefully be able to post a more detailed and informative trip report!

Absolutely Epic. The midget is completely insane over the top hilarious.

No clue who or what Calvin Harris is. I'm a beer drinker so I guess I really don't know but is a grand for a bottle of Goose Magnum in any way reasonable?

Pretty standard 1000% markup on a 100$ bottle of vodka for Vegas.

Makes me glad to be a beer drinker too.

Works out to about 45$ a drink with tax, service charge, and tip. I'm sure they had fun though.

A trip I'm sure Jerry will never forget. Too funny having 5 cent cuffed to the groom; I bet that was a great conversation starter! I really enjoyed your report.

No shit! I'm alright with the over inflated prices of everything, but $180 for water!? That should be illegal.

5 Cent is going to see his bookings skyrocket. I can see him being worked into a cucumber/sushi TR in the future.
