So I hear they are pretty good. I am not a foodie by any means, I can eat anywhere. But are they true BBQ? Smoked low and slow, or are they more of the oven baked variety, or even worse boiled!?!

I am trying to make a point to get off the beaten path on my next trip a bit and wanna check it out maybe for dinner and some gamble. I assume walking from Strip there is good enough.

Not slow smoke. more like boiled and smoke but finish on the grill with sauce. Good but not Great.

The ribs at Binions new BBQ are definitely smoked low and slow. EI is good....but Binions is so much better for.the same price.

I am not a foodie so I don't know how they are cooked. But, they are worth the walk from the strip. Plus the price is decent.

I read that the ribs are steamed and then finished on the grill.

    IMHO ....

The ribs are great! I try to get there and have them every trip. But, the only way to know for sure is to try them ....

However, I prefer the BBQ chicken .... no, the BBQ ribs .... no, the chicken .... to hell with it, I'll have the combo and have both!

Thanks everyone. The Binions news is great for me because I do love authentic BBQ. Maybe I can take the walk over to EI for lunch to give the chicken a shot. If I decided not to eat there, is it worth for the walk over for the gambling and beer? Again I am not a beer snob but I do like to try different local beers when I am out of town. (I also can drink the 24 oz cans of high life as well!)

I am looking forward to trying MSS beer.

When this has been asked before, the majority (including me) says YES, it's definitely worth the walk. (Where are you walking from? I assume somewhere center strip.)

I feel like every third post I make here is in praise of EI. $5 3:2 blackjack 24/7, 9/6 JoB VP at the quarter level, good comps (I have no idea what the official rate, however, but I always seem to earn points pretty quickly), the famous steak dinner, and good housebrew beer.

(That is where a small minority will often disagree and say that the beer is terrible. I usually try to drink light beer in LV, just to not gain 15 pounds during a visit, and theirs is quite drinkable. But since I'm drinking light beer, obviously I'm not a beer snob.)

It can be a bit smokier than the big strip casinos--I'm sure the ventilation system is not as advanced--but for me it's an essential part of every trip. Just go out the back door of Bally's, walk along an ugly block of parking lots, cross Koval (carefully!!) and you're there.

I will probably venture there from either Mirage or Cosmo so yes center strip. Famous steak dinner you say?

As for smoky I usually will contribute with a cigar of my own and the casinos in NW Indiana are always really smoky so that does not bother me.

With comps anyway I can play my way into a steak dinner (not chasing just curious)

We've enjoyed EI's BBQ chicken and ribs combo numerous times, but had the steak special on Tuesday, as we plan to try Binion's version on Sat. or Sun. Will post our verdict.

Yep. $8.99 for steak (top sirloin, according to what I read somewhere), delicious green beans, potato (I think), salad/soup, and a 20 oz beer (or root beer). You do have to jump through the hoop of A) getting a players club card and B) swiping the card at a kiosk to get a coupon for the special. It's not on the menu. Search this website or Google to see lots of discussion about it.

My wife and I love it and get it at least once per trip. Some think it's shoe leather. It's not going to be a Gordon Ramsay steak, but I think it's pretty darn good and I challenge anyone to make a similar dinner at home for $8.99.

Also of note: the off-menu steak and eggs breakfast special.

I was underwhelmed with the ribs, found them quite dry. Steak special on the other hand is great value. Don't go in expecting SW/Craftsteak/etc. Just good down home cooking.

For $8.99 I wouldn't expect Gordon Ramsay, and people that do should be ashamed of themselves. As long as I do not see the marks where the jockey hit it I am good!

The breakfast special though seems right up my alley, seems like a great place to end the "night" or to begin my day.

I have not tried the ribs at EI but will have to this April........however, I do smoke a lot of my own ribs and if you want to know if the ribs are smoked or not just cut the meat open. Smoked meat turns PINK inside, not white and it's very rich to eat. Turkey will do the same and turn pink inside.

Not for lunch! EI BBQ opens at 4pm .... I don't think the EI cafe has BBQ ribs or BBQ chicken.

Absolutely .... if I ever go to Vegas and don't get to stop by EI for the BBQ combo, I'll feel like my trip was "incomplete"!

Add one to the "they're good, but not great" camp. Definitely aren't smoked, but the flavor is pretty good. I enjoyed the baked beans and corn. I may have to give Binion's ribs a shot when I'm downtown.

I'll have to try the ribs...I usually just get the prime rib and dont even look at the menu. As for the walk......I'd walk to the moon and back just for a piece of their cheesecake!
