How has your home casino changed over time?

Do you have a home casino? How has your home casino changed over time? Why or why not?

 

My home away from home was always the Stardust.

Look what happened to it.

 

Used to be 100% the B.

Now I only walk in the place for dinner and scarves.

 

Started at Mirage, moved to Bellagio when I found they would comp me there, migrated to Caesars for a while when I found how much free play they would give me. Now I primarily stay at Aria if they will put me in sky suites, otherwise CP for the free play. Over the years I have stayed at all of the better hotels on the strip but I am settled in to only playing at Aria, B, and CP now. Very easy to walk between all three on any trip. I don't like the restaurant lineup at Wynn anymore and have never liked the casino at V/P.

 

We have a "home" casino in Indiana (Horseshoe So IN) - always owned by CET that was formerly Caesars So IN. Back in the day....the 1st few years, there seemed to be more jackpot winners and more active play on the machines. There are now about 6-8 casinos within a short driving distance (1-2 hrs) and one would think the competition would make a difference but it doesn't. They do offer many functions for the Diamond / 7Star players which is nice and we go to the Diamond Lounge to eat a couple nites a week....especially on free drink nites!

In LV....our home base is always Paris or Bally's. Best location on the strip for us but it does seem to be constant construction in that area over the last few years....guess they think we need more shopping options...lol. I do like the Linq area a lot though....

 

Use to be the Bellagio because we had nice offers and like to be in the middle of the strip. However, as we visited more often, the allure of mid strip was lost. Our host from B went to Aria and we gave it a try. While we didn't mind the place, we had some cuff links and other small items stolen from our room. This left a bitter taste in our mouth. Because we love the restaurants at MB, we decided to give it a try. We love it and has been our home base for the last several trips. We just find MB fits us well and we get very good offers.

 

IP -> Flamingo -> Paris -> Wynncore -> Aria -> Wynncore

IP was the first place to comp me and the location was great. I couldn't care less about the rooms and even the painfully slow elevators didn't bother me much back in those days. Then Flamingo started showing me some love so I gave it a shot and liked it a bit better than IP. Eventually, what is now CET came together and I had the opportunity to stay free at other, nicer hotels. I tried them all and Paris became my favorite of the CET joints and would be my home for a few years.

Then I became something of a nomad. My increased bankroll combined with the ever increasing hotel room supply made comps as easy to get as cheap money had been in those days. So I tried out a number of places depending on my mood or whoever was offering up the best deal.

Eventually I settled in with Wynncore for several trips. But after my host left and my marketing offers became weak and a marathon BJ session at Aria got the attention of a host, I thought I'd dip my toe in the Mlife pool. I bounced around (Mirage, Bellagio, MC/Hotel 32) but seemed to usually come back to Aria.

As the service (at least, IMO) went downhill at the Mlife joints and the offers became less attractive, I started getting less and less excited for my Vegas trips. Then, a nice offer from Wynncore came out of the blue. I took them up on the offer, eventually got together with a great host and it has been my home for the last 2.5-3 years.

 

Uh-huh, same here. Now we kinda couch-surf between the various mid-Strip CET places.

 

My home casino was JANugget in Reno..
It got sold in December, and apparently all AP Video Poker players were 86'd (including me, LOL)
Ohh well, they sure weren't giving anything good away anymore (used to get $1600 a month FreePlay)

 

Orleans is our home away from home. We like the food, the beds are comfortable, shuttle is very convenient and free, and we almost always get a strip view for free. Started staying there 10+ years ago. I liked it better before Boyd took it over because they switched out a lot of the older machines that I liked to play and changed the layout. Up until last year, they seemed to be tighter about giving out comps. Usually, if we play roulette for a couple hours, we're offered a meal. Now, I have to ask for it. I've only been refused once and it was because I was betting very conservatively. We always have good service there, even in the cafe. Nothing has ever disappeared from the room, our room is always clean and it doesn't take forever to get from the room to the casino. Getting ready to go back and collect some more $!

 

My first Home Casino was Bob Stupak's Vegas World. Bob really did make sure that my vacations were "virtually free". I loved the cheesy space-themed casino; it fit my need to see something I couldn't see at home. I regularly saw Bob walking the casino floor, with one or two followers who were writing everything he said.

My Air Force buddies in San Antonio loved the old Hacienda, so we stayed in clusters of rooms back in the motor-inn section. It was my "LV Home" for awhile. Full disclosure: Hacienda was near the South end of the Strip, in the location of present-day Mandalay Bay.

In that era, I always drove a car and ended up playing Downtown or at the Klondike, which was between the Airport and the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign. The little diner there was fabulous.

Since our children are adults now, we tracel 2-3 times per year, and we always stay downtown. Four Queens was home for a few years, and the El Cortez for the last 5 years. Sadly, I am so disappointed in the El Cortez lately, with room offers dying and the player's club benefits fading away. I reached a new Card level back in August, and my El Cortez page still does not reflect the upgrade...even after an e-mail request.

Unless something changes quickly, the ElCo target sign below these words is about to change back to Four Queens, for our November trip.

Depends on the comps. In the early 2000s, I would go back and forth between Paris and MGM; comps were always better at the CET properties, so Paris became my home. Then for a few years, the Venetian was generous to medium-roller table game players, so I was loyal to them.

Now I have switched back to CET, mainly PH, love the vibe in their casino (except for the music at night!).

 

I had two I used for business and pleasure for years. They were the Trop and Las Vegas Hilton. Very easy access to other roads with a rental car. Later it was the Nugget DT and Orleans depending on the offers. Now it varies so it has been the B, Paris and places in Henderson.

 

I always have a few days at PH. I love the Vibrant atmosphere, the Music, the view once you get out... and of course the loaction. Mid-Strip is just perfect to go wherever you want to go without Ages of Walking...
On most of my stays i Change Hotels once to participate of good deals there.

 

Since my home casino is more my home "hotel", it has changed over the years as my per-diem increased. In the early days, I spent my fair share of time at Circus-Circus (yes... Manor), Arizona Charlie's on Decatur and The Plaza (pre- remodel) to name a few. Then I was able to "move-up" to Treasure Island, Luxor, Caesar's and the like. Since about 2003, I've been able to stay in the top joints, though since 2009 I've been pretty exclusive to the Hard Rock. I still venture downtown and to the Strip to keep current, but the Hard Rock is where Iay my head.

Sands>Frontier>Trop>Stardust and now be prepared to be shocked, it's MSS.

Very little change in the last ~14 years except for shutting down the Pullman and that lack of change is both good and bad. We are very comfortable there and they treat us well, but you'd like to see "some" changes.

 

I go wherever I get the best comps.

Bally's -> Rio -> NYNY-> MGM

 

Desert Inn 1997-1999 (it wasn't such a bad place. It had undergone a major renovation just before I first stayed there and even though the property was about 50 years old the Palms Tower was only a few years old. The lobby was pretty fancy too, with a huge soaring ceiling. The glamor had long worn off and it really couldn't compete with the Mirage or Bellagio or even Treasure Island but I was a newbie, what did I know)
Barbary Coast 2000-2002 - I probably remember this place as something better than it really was.
Caesars Palace 2002-2005 (when it was a Park Place casino)

I used to stay at GN around 1998. I tried the 4Q's when we got married in 2002. Then we started going to the Plaza, we tried The D last winter but it's back to The Plaza this winter. Hopefully they will still like us since I play Bingo
