Maggiano's is no better than any other national chain restaurant. in a town like Vegas, there's hundreds of better choices for Italian food

I like the atmosphere there as well as the food, but we usually have enough people going to do the family style meal so they keep the food coming. Service has been hit or miss at times, but it's on the short list of places I like to go with a group.

    I'd agree with this.

The food is pretty generic, lots of things reheated from frozen. I have always found the food pretty bland. I would say its on par with olive garden. Nothing wrong with either but there are a lot better options.

It's better than Buddy V's, but that ain't saying much. Too many better places in town to resort to eating at either place.

Nothing wrong with Maggiano's. It's a fine place if you like your basic homestyle Italian food. Carmine's is better.

I've taken several groups there after meetings over at the Trump (20 people or so) over the years and LOVE the place. They do big groups well and the food is good. The chain-haters don't like it, but much of the country doesn't have one (Northern Nevada doesn't), so just because there're multiple locations doesn't mean it must be avoided to me.

It is one of our favorite italian restaurants in Vegas. That being said, it is nicer than any place near where we live ( we live in the boonies so are easily impressed). We like standard homestyle cooking...not fancy stuff. Personally I love the dark rich woodwork and looking out over the strip. We only order the veal parm ( our favorite at any italian restaurant) so I can't advise as to the other offerings. Just because it is a chain does not mean it is McDonalds. It depends on what you are looking for. We just want good food at a reasonable price in a decent setting.

Thanks for all the honest replies... My moms ate at the CA location and mentioned it was good which is why it was thrown on the radar. For those who felt there are better options what on the strip would you suggest.

Zeffirino at the Venetian shops. I'm Italian and from New York and my Grandfather used to take me to the best Italian places in Brooklyn (Areo is the place to go if in Brooklyn). Anyway, trust me about Zeffirino........ It's pricey but worth it.

My biggest choice when in Vegas is a restaurant I can walk to. No cabs. Every casino has lots of options, either in house or within a short distance.

    Just me I guess.

We dined at their Cherry Hill Nj location numerous times. Tried the Vegas location on our September trip. We love their Veal Parm. Consistent quality food at both locations. Great service. Nothing to complain about.

Also the price is more reasonable than RAO's or Il Mulino. I have never had a bad meal there.(Maggiano's that is)

We have one where we live and love it. Service, atmosphere and quality of food is very consistent.

I like it, but I always have a veal dishes there. Their veal chop is thick enough to be plated standing on its edge. I enjoy their veal marsala also, but I don't think their side dish of spaghetti is anything to write home about, so I now ask for a sauteed spinach substitute, but it could use more garlic!

I beg to differ. Buddy V's lasagna is amazing! Also, its at least on par with Maggianos.

We had Carmines and it was closer to Olive Garden. I consider Maggianos slightly above that level.

    Agreed! Pretty good gnocchi there.

Agree! When I'm in Las Vegas I want something Vegas and not something that's almost everywhere.

Just search for Italian on this board and you will get tons of suggestions, from Bootlegger to Rao's to Trevi, to {ducking, hiding} Battista's. :)

For the price it's pretty good. If you have 4 or more people, family style meal is the way to go and allows a great sampling of their menu.

+1. Maggianos is one of the chain restaurants I don't mind when I'm at home or with friends/family.

I don't have one in my area, so its better than the Olive Garden and other choices in my area.
