    Hello friendly members,
I am 17 years old from Greece at my last school grade and i've to decide for my future finally.
I'm dreaming of living at LV, so studies is an opportunity to make this dream come true. So there are some questions i want to do.
Well,i'm not from the best students that's why i want to ask if i have chances for 1-2 year programs either at UNLV or CSN. Or,is there any other school/college/university with less difficult study level which i could graduate?(with studying ofcourse, but i just don't want to get cut and kicked in case i'm facing education problems.)

ps. I have been awarded an English certificate(lower) with good mark,so we can say i have a proof of my english language skills.

Any advice and help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Well make sure that UNLV offers a program that you would be interested in. Then contact the admissions office and they will let you know what they need for admissions. They would also be the ones that would provide you with the info you will need for a visa.

Also, be aware that the legal age for alcohol consumption and gambling is 21. Also some student visas don't allow you to legally work.

Assuming this is a legit inquiry, I'd be looking for concrete answers from school and immigration officials, just a few of which revolve around:

What will it take for you to legally enter and stay in this country?
What are the admissions requirements for the schools in question and how do your European credentials, classwork, testing apply?
    Where will you live?
    How will you fund this?
You seem to admit you're not a good student, what will happen if you can't hang with the coursework and have to leave school?

    Good luck.

Contact the International student admissions office of the schools you are interested in. All schools will have some type of entry requirement including grades, proof of funds, visas, proof of language proficiency (ex.TOEFL), and so on. Each school may be different. Also take into account that you may have to pay the higher out-of state costs associated with that school, which is oftentimes double the in-state rates. It is expensive to live far from home especially since most international students are not allowed to work outside of the campus.

Please don't major in hospitality management unless you're guaranteed to have a job lined up after graduation. I can personally vouch for this since I have many friends who are unemployed or working minimum wage jobs. I was fortunate since I double majored in Finance and had a job waiting for me with my family's company.

What will it take for you to legally enter and stay in this country? Well,a F-1 student visa.
What are the admissions requirements for the schools in question and how do your European credentials, classwork, testing apply? I do not face any problem with the requirements as they emphasize mostly at the english skills/english language certificates which i have been already awarded. I am looking for either easier undergraduate programs or certificates which can lead me to one job(one year certificates).
Where will you live? I am planning to live by simply renting a room which seem to be a more economic way than what colleges offer.
How will you fund this? My parents want me to study more than anything. We as family don't face any financial difficulties, although we're not rich and we won't afford this fluently, but we are able to.
You seem to admit you're not a good student, what will happen if you can't hang with the coursework and have to leave school? I admit that i'm not a good student and that's the main reason i opened this thread.Well, that's why i'm searching for low difficulty level studies.

Well i have contacted them and we have had a conversation and now it's all up to me to decide.I just can't find what job is mostly requested at Vegas.

Thanks for the information.Let me ask,why i shouldn't major in hospitality management ? And no i'm not guaranteed a job.Finance, hehe, that's what my brother and dad studied. Interesting.

    What jobs are mostly requested?

It's a low paying field unless you specialize in something more specific (real estate with a background in hotels, which is what I do). You will also have crazy work hours if you work in hotels.

Job-wise it depends on which area you want to focus in. The most popular areas are hotels, restaurants, and catering/banquet halls. Many people go after Management Program positions with the larger corporations since it might lead to an entry-level management position. It also allows them to work for a larger corporation than a smaller one, which is better for job security and stability.

My recommendation is to go with an Engineering or Computer-related major, if you can handle the math and science load.

That's exactly is what i want to do. I am thinking of going for the process below to graduate for a bachelor degree which with it i'll have more chances of getting sponsored for a work visa i guess.

CA =*Certificate of Achievement in Hotel Management*followed by one year of OPT (work)Return to CSN for one year to purse an AAAA =*Associate of Arts in Hospitality Management(one semester of CPT) followed by one year of OPT,Transfer to*UNLV*(University of Nevada, Las Vegas)BS =*Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management*(two or three semesters of CPT) followed by one year of OPT.

    How does it sound?

Keep in mind that many hotel companies will not sponsor work visas, including Marriott for their Management Program. Are you fluent in German or any other language? If so, I would go to a Swiss Hotel School (if this is what you want to do) while interning at a local hotel. Once you graduate, it shouldn't be hard to find a job within Europe since hotel companies tend to like Swiss Hotel School graduates. There are tons of luxury hotel brands to choose from and you don't have to worry about work visas. A few hotels that come in mind are Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton/Marriott, Starwood (St. Regis, Westin, etc.), Dorchester, Fairmont, etc. Once you get promoted and become a mid-level manager, it shouldn't be difficult to get a work visa in another country (ex. USA). Some companies like Four Seasons encourages that their employees move to different properties every few years or so, so this could be an option for you.

IMHO, the only school in the States that's worthwhile for you is Cornell.

Yes, I know a few hospitality professionals who want to work in the States but have a hard time doing so due to the work visas. Best way of approaching this is by finding companies who will offer work visas after you complete a Management program in Europe (or wherever). However, nothing is guaranteed unless it's on paper, which some employers might not offer to do.

Do you want to get a hospitality management degree from an American university or another type of degree, or do you just want to get to Vegas?

If this is the case then I recommend looking for a job that's more specialized. The more specialized it is, the better chances of you getting a work visa through your employer. However, I can't think of many large corporations in Vegas that aren't casino-related other than Zappos.

Not much in Vegas. I know it's difficult but give up on the idea of living in Vegas until you obtain permanent residency in the States. Specialized jobs are usually IT/computer-related, I see tons of people in my area (Seattle) who are on work visas through their employers.

No one knows about that. Best to be on the safe side and get a degree.
