(I hope I posted this in the correct place)

I got an invite for the 4Q VP tournament November 14-16, but I am assuming all of their VP tournaments are similar. I've never played in a VP tournament before...

What version of VP does 4Q use for their VP tournaments? Or does it vary by tournament?

It sounds like you play once on Saturday and once on Sunday. Anyone know how long the sessions last and how many session choices there are per day?

I did try to call and ask, but the lady in reservations didn't have any details. I figured my VMB friends would have the inside information. :)

It's 10/7 DB. Play as many hands as you can in 10 minutes

Tough game...royal only strategy better maybe? Depends on the payouts on the tournament I suppose.

Depends on what you goal is. If your only goal is to win then that's a good strategy. If your goal is to place in the money it doesn't work so well.

Lot's of slot players in this tournament who play slowly and badly. A fast strategy player is going to place in the money with just a bit of luck.

I've gone quadless and still placed in the money. Can't beat that!

In that case, nevermind probably. I would mostly play straight up since I'm variance adverse anyway. Could argue to break high pair for good 3 to Royals maybe. I've never really studied VP tourney strategy much though as I actually haven't ever played in one.

In Double Bonus you DO break a high pair to go for a royal (in some cases) already

Thanks for all of the information! Great to hear that a lot of others in the tournament play slowly/badly. I can play very quickly (if I'm not drunk).

Of course, I'd like to win, but really would be happy to just place in the money.

Hey, I'll be playing in that tournament too! I've never done a VP tourney before, so mostly I'm just interested in seeing what it's like and happy to have the comp room. It's got to be more interesting than the two slot tournaments I've played in where ya just mash the button for 20 minutes.
