My brother and his wife play these progressive nickel VPs and usually each get several comped nights for playing. Anyway, security came around and shut down all 12 machines and the next morning they had all been replaced with slot machines.

West side of the casino, near Magnolia's is where they were located. A major disappointment for them. 4Q always treated them well and they are/were hard core VP players. 12-14 hours per day banging away at 25 cents.

They were nickel progressive, full pay VP, not slots as my goof in the subject line states.

Anytime I see this type lead in regarding 4Q it makes me panic thinking they are removing my 10/7 DB progressive against the wall. Pretty sure 4Q will lose it's appeal for me if that happens.

Hope you had a great trip.

What the heck Joe? You go to Vegas and first they shut down the successful Pasta Pirate and then start removing popular machines from 4 Queens?! Glad I'm going before your next trip. I can't handle all these changes that happen when you're in town!

I get panicky too though when they start changing things up at 4Q's. I can't help but think what's next?

Huh - what's that? Did I miss something? I'm looking forward to eating there next week. What's the story?

UPDATE: OMG: I just read Joe's post about PP's demise. I'm ... well, not happy! The Cal's website doesn't give a clue.

At least 3 non-PP employees knew nothing about the closing. They are keeping it quiet. I wrote an email to the GM about how disappointed we were and the reply I received was:
"Appreciate your thoughts regarding the Pasta Pirate"

I also asked if we could buy some of the neon signs and was told they were all going to a liquidator who was taking care of the entire restaurant.

That's also what I thought when I first read the subject line.

Those 12 5c/25c progressives have been relocated. They are now in front of hotel registration. No change to paytables.

Also this may be old news to some of you but the eight uprights near keno with some good 5c/25c games (non-progressive) have also been moved. They are now inside the Fremont St. entrance that's nearest the D Casino. And the 5c/25c 8/5 BP has been reinstated on them but not the 9/6 JoB.

I saw these changes this morning and reported them to vpFREE2. The updates are there now.

Last week wife and I did our usual 4 Queens play. Start out at the $.25 progressive along the wall. 10/7 DB. Both of us get up after getting some timely full houses and flushes and cash out. Hit the keno lounge where we find most of the 5c machines gone. We find a couple of uprights in the corner of the keno lounge.

After playing for a short while my wife tells me look at what I got dealt. She had an ace high straight with all diamonds and a king of hearts. I'm thinking you know how many times you throw away one card and get the same card in another suit? Maybe that king of hearts can turn into a king of diamonds to make the royal flush. She hit the deal button and low and behold it happened. King of hearts for a king of diamonds. Sweet!!!

She cashes out and continues to play. Hits four aces with the kicker followed up by 4 sevens.

Four Queens was good to us.
