I have about 300k in reward gold.

I stayed at Circus Circus for less than $150 for the week last time. I had a nice room.
I go because of the SHOT Show held at the Venetian. I was going to see if anyone had a recommendation of where to stay this year.

your posting this in the myvegas forum, so i assume you mean from the myvegas redemption choices... Id say the Monte Carlo redemption costs are probably the best value.

MC or Luxor, at least Lux has WiFi in every room, MC only on the top and bottom floors

Oh, does it now? I'm planning on hopefully doing in February or March (once they update their calendar...), probably staying at Luxor. I stayed there once a few years ago and it was pretty nice. But I've seen a lot of yelp reviews, including fairly recent ones, saying that their room had no wireless available. Did they fix that? That would be great news.

When we were there in September they were advertising free WiFi in the casino, but when I was up in my room I couldn't get free WiFi (we stay East tower). From my understanding the free WiFi is West Tower 17th floor and higher (Luxor is our home casino in Vegas). If you think of booking here ask about the WiFi so you aren't disappointed in having wired only internet in the room.

Oh, interesting. So even the pyramid suites don't have wifi, but one of the towers does? I was thinking of seeing if I could get a free upgrade to a pyramid suite. (I was also just thinking of bringing a wireless router and plugging that into the wall. :p)

Personally I would stay at MGM but that's only because I've never stayed there. I have 500k LPs and am thinking of using some of them to extend my next trip by one night and stay at MGM.

So while probably not all that helpful to the OP, i did answer the question truthfully. :D

Agree that MC seems to be the best value.

Monte Carlo is rated higher than Luxor, and it's connected to Aria.

I just read your last Vegas and European trip reports. Great stuff. Thanks for all the pics. I never get tired of seeing Vegas pics, even though they may be similar. You really have a way with words. Good luck with your dissertation. I have a feeling you will do great things in your life. Best wishes.

Would they all be free or some free and some discounted as this would play a bit part in the decision making.

This. Especially if he wants to do something at venetian anyway. But I don't think you can get weekends at Mirage.

I cannot recommend staying at MGM. We were at MB on a different comp in a suite and moved to MGM and they put us in the West Tower (the old section) and the rooms are about 250 sq feet, not enough room for 2, no actual door on the bathroom and we had to move the one chair in the room to the ONE closet to have a pathway to the door and bathroom area. No counter space and over all a horrible experience!! Thankfully after a few nights, we moved to the newly remodeled Delano at Mandalay Bay and enjoyed our 1 bedroom 1.5 bathroom suite on a TRUE COMP!

Do not waste your lps on MGM. Casino is too big, lines are too long and the rooms are about the worst rooms I have ever seen anywhere!

Heh, yeah. I was thinking about just bringing a spare wireless router and plugging the router into the wall. Then I realized I didn't have to, nor buy any other hardware like that - you can just install a utility like this one on your laptop, plug your laptop into the wall, and have wifi that way. :) (Though I suppose it's still inconvenient, if you also wanted to use your laptop, to have it plugged into the wall, but whatever. Just need a giant ethernet cable, those are cheap. :))

Based on the info you shared I'd go with Monte Carlo. They're a step up from Circus Circus in my opinion. You won't stumble over 100's of kids and for 300K loyalty point you'll be able to get 4 free nights without a problem. I also like MC's location a lot better than CC. CC is in the middle of nowhwere, Monte Carlo has a lot of action going on around it (NYNY, ARIA and Cosmo, MGM on the other side of the road).

I would stay at Mirage. Center strip and easily accessbile. If I were really concerned about conserving LPs I would stay at Luxor or Excalibur. Stayed at Circus Circus once using LPs, but never again since it isn't a "real" mLife casino.

I've stayed at Luxor for 3 nights using LP's.
