What are some of the strange gifts you get from casinos? Either through offers if you visit or just sent to you for being a good customer (i.e. degen )? By random I don't mean typical corporate gifts like a watch or a basket of bath products but things that you wouldn't think of as gift products from a company. For instance I went through my casino mail last weekend and I had offers from CET in AC to come down and pick up things like a turkey fryer, another one for a free snowblower, there were others too for very random household things. I think its pretty cool because those are the types of things I would probably never buy because I think they're unnecessary, but they might be cool to have. Unfortunately I never make it down during those weekends and often don't even see the mail until after they're expired.
When living there and qualified as a local, the Station casinos had the "best shit" for locals. Frozen turkeys (3 one year) Steak Knife sets shamwow type wipey things LED Lightbulbs Sunshades for the car Umbrellas, I never understood that one in Vegas Logo glasses Watches Jackets T shirts Logo golf balls Can huggers The list goes on but I can't remember a lot of them. Most were free giveaways on Sundays and others you had to earn X # of points each day. In the end, most of them were sold at our rummage sale before we moved back to WI, but it was always the perfect excuse to gamble on a Sunday morning. Santa Fe was our casino of choice (closest).
Our home casino is Horseshoe So IN and last year just before the KY Derby, they gave Diamond/7 Stars a neat print of Secretariat ready for framing.....really liked that one!
What are snowblowers? Are they what people use to make artificial snow for us people here in Los Angeles?
When I was Platinum with Total Rewards one of the offers I would occasionally get was an invite to an electronics giveaway. It was a 3 day offer and then depending on how many points you earned during the 3 days would determine what gift level you could choose from. Included things on the low end like digital scales and alarm clocks to laptops and HD TVs on the high end. At my local casino they've given away a pretty wide variety of stuff over the years from things like umbrellas and luggage sets to cookware, baking dishes, holiday plate sets, serving trays, etc.
Best give away ever was at Barona Casino in San Diego, not really a giveaway but more a prize. If you got a Straight Flush in the poker room they gave you a one ounce silver Bar, and for a royal one ounce gold bar. this was well before gold and silver took off, Of course lucky for me I hit a RF and was given a gold bar with the casino name and other things imprinted on it. Some of the workers would offer to buy up the gold bars for cash and being very young and in need of more gambling money I sold for $500-$600 bucks and quickly lost the cash playing BJ. still wish I had that gold bar and I often joke with the guy about buying it back. Would go nice with my many ounces of gold I have since bought
I looked up "snowblower" and laughed at myself. But I don't have to look up snow tires. We don't use them here in LA because they would just melt.
the indian casinos by me often give out random crap with their logo, from blankets, to a portable bbq, bbq tong set, rice cooker, slow cooker. unfortunately its all logo stuff, and the build quality is poor. too bad I cant win the cool stuff like the weekly car give aways. fk
Yes, some folks would like that. BUT - I am thinking the vast majority of folks would take it home and then realize there was no place in the house they would hang a horse picture. And then what happens? I bring this up, as we have been on some casino group trips - two cruises to think of. They always want to do a group picture. Then they send it to your cabin. What in the hell am I going to do with a picture of fellow degenerates?
Yeah, seems like once a year they have some sort of promotion that involves hunting equipment. I think I have turned down multiple times their offers of free scopes and sites
Local casinos here do tons of cheap stuff like coffee makers, blenders, luggage, watches, etc...they make good secret santa gifts...lol. I got a $100 Best Buy gift card last week, which I will use. I think one of the dealers told me the top tier card holders got ipad minis.
If we at MSS at Christmas time and we will be there again this year, I usually get a $150 gift certificate to use at the Cal gift shop. I really don't need anymore logo clothes, but the family appreciates them.
