We have not been in the MGM since the lions were removed! I know, too long, right?

So how is the gambling there? What is new over this long period of time? Must sees/dos there.

We usually stay downtown but may be in the S. strip area on this next trip.

    Thanks for the news/info.

Dining: some older places are closed but there are several new restaurants: pub 1842 -- really good burgers..... and try the bbq chicken drumsticks appetizer (they are awesome). A lot of beer options but I feel they are kinda on the pricey side.
The old 24hr restaurant(studio café?) is now called Avenue24. Revamped the menu a little bit and food is definitely better than the old place, although I feel it has declined a but recently. (the corned beef has used to be awesome when they first changed the name, now it is questionable at best).
Wolfgang pucks is still open late night, but they took a few items off their menu.
Gaming..... in case you have been living under a rock and didn't know, the lionshare machine is gone.... other than that, blackjack rules are decent there even at lower stakes.
They got ride of one of the old clubs and turned it into a place called Whiskey Down. The tables are high limit, but the bar has 25cent VP and still comps drinks.
There is now a new sports bar (if I recall correctly it is where the lions used to be).

The new sports Bar TAP is real nice, right next to the Sports Book.

The gold lion is centerpiece in the lobby. The live lions are gone.

    • Real lions gone... and Lion's Share slot machine gone too - someone finally won the jackpot about 2 months ago.
    • New restaurant, Crush, now in place of old Michael Mina restaurant Nobhill.
    • Avenue grill used to be 24/7. Now it is breakfast and lunch only. Wolfgang Pucks is basically 24 hour, and Grand Wok is open until 2:00 AM on Fri & Sat.
    • Previously mentioned... Whiskey Down replaced old Tabu Ultra Lounge - at least location wise. Completely different concept.
    • Hakkasan is the no longer the newest, but is still the biggest and one of the hottest clubs in Vegas. The restaurant is awesome.

I recommend TAP over Pub1842...better prices, better food, better beer selection

Digital BJ at MGM is really good rules and is $5 min...

    Plenty of table games.
    Huge selection of slots.
They had a section which housed a bunch of older machines, but it was all cleared out last time.
Not sure what they have planned to go there next.
There are a few new places to eat. Check their web site out for a list and menu.

Emeril just revamped his restaurant, new décor and new items on the menu, if you are into southern seafood fare.

I wanna say it was about 3-4 years ago. I think it was about 6 months before all the room renovations were nearing completion.

and they still have a happy hour there. I didn't get a chance to stop in but my buddy said the oysters are very good. Especially for $1.75 a piece for happy hour.

Do you remember where this is located? I have never played BJ in a casino, so this machine would probably be a good starter for me... Do you play against others or is it heads up with dealer?

Avoid the West Wing rooms like the plague... They are so tiny and the King is not fit for 2.. It felt like a broom closet. I mentioned in another post, but our room was so small we had to move the one chair from the room and put it in the ONE closet we had since we could not open the closet otherwise or get to the bathroom without tripping on the chair. I cannot fathom who came up with this brilliant design. There's no bathtub, only a shower and the toilet has only a glazed glass door but no other door from the bathroom to the room since there is no hallway either. You have absolutely NO privacy. There is no view and one tiny window that the bed blocks. Dark and dingy! I would estimate the room is 250 sq feet. The room was comped but we had to pay a resort fee and after walking from the furthest part of the hotel to the pool we barely were down there an hour one day. I have been to Vegas over a dozen time.. maybe 20 times.. and had never stayed at MGM and now my curiousity is satisfied.. I'll never stay there again. Even asked for a MGM Grand King and they said they didn't have any... uh, the biggest hotel in LV and top 5 in the world and they don't have any on a Tuesday in October? Doubtful.. Casino was too big, and confusing; it used to be more organized. I was constantly getting turned around. Was happy to leave and return back to MB, actually Delano, this time for a true comp and felt like heaven. Beautiful room with a view, quiet, soothing colors, comfy bed and am so familiar with MB and Delano so love the layout and the best pool on the strip! the only complaint... they have hard overstuffed pillows at Delano... oh well... at least I had enough room not to keep running into the chair or wall en route to the bathroom! LOL --- Love MB and Delano!

    $5 blackjack early midweek mornings.

I'll be stating at MGM (again) in just a little over two weeks. Might have to check this place out.

The best thing at 1842 is the green chile nachos.

Also the bottled gin drink they make in house is out of control.

    I hammered those back nonstop.
