I know this game was a dinosaur like 4 years ago. I read somewhere the Venetian or Paris had 2 tables of it, but I am unsure if the limits would fit my bankroll at those places. Any places downtown or low limit $5 or $10 level? On a side note I know the odds are terrible this is the only side bet I play 100% percent of the time.
Monte Carlo is the only place on the strip that I am aware of still having it. Usually $10, sometimes $5 when it's slow.
Venetian still has it. They have added an "insurance" bet to it where you can insure your hand against big hands of the dealers....
There was a rumor floating around on a couple of Vegas related sites 2 or 3 years ago that the licensing fees had doubled, prompting some casinos to drop it. I have no way of confirming this.
possibly but I thought the patent had run out on the game by now. The main reason is tough to find now is there are a bunch of poker alternatives. The progressive is the biggest reason to play it, and that is mostly just a money suck.
Those both make sense. I always play the sucker bet on this game due to the large progressive, to me 2000-1 on Pai Gow is not worth playing.... 6 figures is... Maybe casinos did not like the bigger progressives when other games take in the same and do not pay out as much?
I know the progressive at Monte Carlo is shared across most of their poker games. I played Crazy 4 Poker there and bet the progressive each time. The dealer didn't know how to operate the progressive bet switch and had a mini panic attack. It was awkward.
Fun game. I miss it big time, although I've really begun to like High Card Flush as far as the "carny" games go.
