Here are some observations so far:
Staying at the El Cortez, tried the 20 trick and the clerk did her best but they were booked up, she showed me the computer screen as she was looking. At the El Cortez Cafe, with our $5 off coupons, the wife and I ended up with a 14 dollar tab!

Best slots - Mermaids and El Cortez
Worst - Plaza and La Bayou

Best craps - LVC, The D, El Cortez
    Worst - Plaza

By the way, craps dealers and drink service was hands down the worst, wont' be spending anymore money there. Thought about trying a steak at Oscars but I think I'll stick with Andiamo;s at the D.

Oh and I had the Prime Rib at the El Cortez ;-)

I thought Curtiss (Plaza rep on VMB) said they made a lot of positive changes there with quite a few people vouching for that. Sucks you didn't have a good experience there. I'll be there in a few weeks.

Wife is cleaning up...grabbing a few beers here at El Cortez and then headed to FSE. Ready to roll ;-)

How was drink service at The D? When I was there in April, it pretty much sucked.

I'm very envious. Be at the Queens four weeks from tomorrow. Try and leave the lights on for me!

We stayed in a regular "suite" at the Cabana Suites. She was trying to upgrade us to a Jacuzzi Suite or Designer Suite. The room was nice and modern, the building was nice also. Slept great every night, didn't hear any noise from Fremont.

It's hard to say whether the $20 trick would work at the EC. Lots of times (from what I hear from others) if you ask they will upgrade you to bigger cabana suite, no need for the $20 trick.

I tried the $20 trick at the EC this past June (I asked if tower rooms were available with the $20 sandwich). I paid for a vintage room. The girl said that she couldn't upgrade me to the tower, I would have to pay more if I wanted a tower room. She did upgrade me to a suite in the vintage rooms (very nice, big enough for 2 or 3 or more people, including the big L shaped couch) that was more than adequate for me. Even though there wasn't much of a view I would rate those rooms as better than the regular tower rooms.

In August it wasn't bad at the craps table, but there was one waitress that I asked for a drink 4 times and never saw one. Once she left it was great. I will be there again in November.

Please tell me why you feel our craps and slots are the worst?

For what it is worth, I have enjoyed playing craps at Plaza over my last few trips to Vegas. I think the dealers are great. Can be your typical professionals when needed and can also easily cut it up with you when the mood is right (while still being professional, of course...). Just because you may not win someplace, doesn't mean the place itself is bad.

Tell me about the Plaza? Haven't been in years. Going to Rodeo in early December for rodeo and brother mentioned he wants to play at Plaza because we haven't in years. (probably 5-7 years). What can we expect?

Did you check out The Mantis at Container Park? The Burners that run it have been updating it. Now it articulates more, has better lighting, and is timed with sound clips (including Bohemian Rhapsody). Pretty cool.
