Ok, so I don't write in forums ever, but Iv decided to start today as I'm in need of some help!

    Here goes,
Myself and my fiancé are travelling to orlando for a 16 days holiday in May, well that's what he thinks. Fortunately for me my fiancé was very trusting in letting me book the holiday. Instead of booking the above I added a detour flight to vegas for 3 nights to start the holiday and then onto Orlando for the remaining 13 nights. I work away so it was easy for me to take my time booking without him interfering. I was very sneaky in changing the confirmation email from destination vegas to destination Orlando and forwarding onto him so he is non the wiser and has no reason to question me! As far as he is aware he has confirmation that we are on an Orlando flight from Manchester at 10 am which can be seen online, HAHA we are not on that flight, the real time is 9am going to vegas from Manchester. Which also means he asks no questions when travelling to the airport as the timings are close. I have Ordered extra leg room and champagne on the flight to start off with a bang!
Here's my dilemma, do I not tell him until the day? I don't know if boys need time to prep for gambling and if this will piss him off? And also if he will be pissed off he didn't buy new clothes for vegas?
We don't travel until Tuesday so I thought maybe the weekend before cook a nice meal pop open some wine, and hand him an itinerary of what we have planned in Orlando, then rip up the itinerary leaving him confused and hand him the REAL itinerary with the real plane ticket confirmation then that gives him a few days to get some last minute boy stuff squared away.
If anybody has any better ideas I would love to know it's his birthday in May so hopefully this will be a good surprise .

    Many thanks
    Abi

    Well speaking as a guy?
Just tell him when youre naked and he'll be fine, lol

but with regards to the gambling?, depends on if he needs time usually to get a big bankroll together
if he can get by with only a couple atm runs, then it shouldn't be an issue

Maybe just a touch cooler in Vegas than Orlando, but still 80s maybe low 90s, so same clothes apply. The one concern I would have is gambling budget. Charging things is Orlando is not the same as having ready cash for gambling.

Next time you discuss the trip ask him if he would do anything different in trip prep if Orlando had a casino,or ask him if he wants to drive over to the casino in Tampa..Just to see his reaction etc..Has he had a good time in Las Vegas before or first timer and how about you?

Bankroll and packing immediately came to mind; but as already mentioned, the weather in Vegas and FL should be similar that time of year. (I also can't imagine any (straight) guy needing to buy new clothes just for Vegas.) As for bankroll, presumably you know his gambling budget better than anyone on VMB, so maybe you can bring some extra for an advance if needed. Personally, I think it's better to place Vegas visit at the END of a trip for what should be obvious reasons. Hell, for that matter, I'd rather spend 13 days in Vegas and 3 (if I had to) in Orlando! :)

I tried to imagine how I would react under similar circumstances, but I'd never let anyone else take full responsibility for trip planning to begin with, so I don't have a clue. However, since you said he was "very trusting in letting (you) book the holiday," he should only be thrilled the way you went about it! Assuming everything's booked and can't be changed, then why say anything unless he notices something "funny" at the boarding gate!

I hope you'll post how it ends up. Good luck and have a terrific time!

The problem I would have is going to Vegas on the first leg, 2 things can happen, 1 lose all my bankroll (or most of it and head to Orlando) with no funds and then be sour those 13 days. or 2 I will big and say screw Fla and stay in Vegas and you fly to Orlando solo :drunk:

I would ask him (if you dont already know) that you want to go to Hard Rock in Tampa for a night to break up the Orlando trip - and how much money would he need for that one day - kinda get a handle on his bankroll.

I would love it if somebody did this for me dont get me wrong - but it would create a bit of an obstacle with my gambling bankroll if she didnt have it for me - or made some plans to get it.

Agreed, although this in part depends on how much you're planning to gamble. If he's the sort to maybe occasionally put $20 in a slot machine, that's one thing. But for me, I keep my bankroll is a separate account, and to access it in Vegas I need to either wire money to the cage or transfer it to my checking account, either of which takes a day or so of lead time.

I would have the fiance over for whatever and then say I am going to check on-line for whatever and find that you have been diverted to LV for a LAY-OVER!!! WTF? (This is when you exclaim WTF, you also begin removing clothing as an earlier poster stated).....leave me alone....let me figure this out.....then slowly.....reveal the details you have JUST arranged at the last minute due to this disruption in travel....and it is your savvy and history with various hotels in LV which allows such accommodations....but look at you....you've accommodated the changes and have a plausible itinerary.....and by now being nekked he hasn't heard anything beyond OMG!...

I would allow him ample time to get his head straight and get a disposable bankroll......(like he is going to leave the room.....).....GOOD LUCK and we need a definite trip report on all this....

At lot depends on the person.
Is this a first trip to Vegas? Some people like to plan. Even though Vegas may be a place he wants to visit, do you think he would prefer to plan it out with you, review some possible shows or practice some gambling or even pick the hotel at which to stay?

Yes this is both out first trip to Vegas, I'm not too bothered about the money situation, he will happily play with up to $100 per night for fun and I will get him to save no worries.
