We had planned on using 2 rewards on the same day. The Shark Reef aquarium at Mandalay and the 2 dinner buffets at MGM. We arrived at Mandalay to a fairly long line. I needed to join MLife because i've never had a card before. After around 20 minutes of waiting it became apparent that this was not going to be a quick process. At somewhere around the 40 minute mark one of the employees came over and had all of the people redeeming MyVegas rewards move to another line and allowed everyone else to wait in the original line. This left only a few people in the original line. They seemed to be having trouble redeeming the rewards, I don't know if the people were new behind the counter or if they don't see many of these awards, but they didn't look comfortable. I'm 2 away from the counter and people in the line start to notice that new people are walking into the now emptied line with MyVegas rewards and are getting service right away. I'm not a complainer but the 2 ladies in front of me where being vocal at their annoyance. After finally an hour of waiting I make my way to the counter. We had arrived at Mandalay late in the day and I came to the conclusion that we no longer have time to visit the aquarium. We had planned on spending roughly an hour there and that time was wasted standing in the MLife line. It was finally my turn and I was called over to the section of the desk that had been designated to handle the recently shortened line. So yes, after being moved into the new line and watching the old line empty and new walkups helped, I was finally back where I started.

The most frustrating thing was the rewards can only be redeemed at the location that you will be using the rewards. This was something I hadn't seen mentioned anywhere else. I could not have my MGM buffets loaded on to my card by employees at Mandalay Bay. The employee helping me wasn't aware of this either. So after an hour of wasted Vegas time I was informed that I would need to go and wait in another line. I was able to get my MLife card but that was all that was achieved for an hour of my time.

Thankfully the process was quick and painless at MGM. I'm sure my story is probably not the normal experience for redeeming rewards. I mostly wanted to point out that you need to redeem your rewards at the property they will be used at. If you plan on using a couple of different rewards that are at different properties be prepared to wait twice.

We have redeemed several rewards over 4 different trips, and never have had that experience! That stinks that you had to wait that long. I assumed everyone knew that you redeem your reward at the property you plan on using it. But then, I don't recall it being specified either.
I think the walk from the casino to the aquarium and back is actually longer than the walk through the aquarium!

Sorry that you found out the hard way but it does say in the email you get after purchasing a reward that you need to go to the MLife desk at that hotel.

I was at Mandalay last week and apparently the "stay" provision added to redemptions are driving the M Life desk people crazy. A supervisor showed me a one page flow chart of how to redeem various offers. It was in microscopic print. It took us 20 minutes to redeem our two offers and both were at MB.
Blame MGM management for this one for making the redemption process insanely difficult for the staff.

I have accumulated 500,000 LPs over the last year and have yet to redeem any rewards. I was planning to use some for my hotel for my January trip but we decided to stay downtown. So then my plan was some freeplay or Bellagio buffet but now many of those rewards require a stay. Threads like this have convinced me that it's not worth the hassle of waiting in the MLife line to redeem something small, like a free cocktail. Even if things go smoothly at the Mlife desk it's still a hassle to deal with for something so small. So unless some new rewards open up in the next 90 days I guess I'll just keep holding on to my LPs and hope they don't take away the free room rewards at Monte Carlo before my next trip.

Don't let a post like this discourage you from trying. Ive redeemed lots of rewards and never have had any problems nor did it take that long to redeem. If you see a big line at an MLife desk, kill some time doing something else and try again.

As for the other issue of rewards requiring stays, I have no problem with that whatsoever and think in the long run it will be beneficial.

I'm sure it does. The only reason it became an issue was because we had planned on using the one reward at Mandalay Bay. Otherwise I would have never been there. I don't blame anyone for that but it was extremely frustrating because I knew around the 30 minute mark that I was no longer going to have time for the aquarium. I wasn't aware of the specific small print otherwise I would have left the line at that time. I figure there is probably a few other people who aren't aware also. Under normal circumstances i'm sure most people would have only lost a few minutes.

They need to increase the staffing of Mandalay Bay Mlife desk during prime times. I was watching very long longs consistently from the Casino floor last week.

If you're a degen like me, just play VP in sight of the desk and wait for a chance to just walk up.

agree x 10,000,000,000! Waited in the M life line once but only for 10 minutes. FREE things are rarely free. if you think of myVEGAS as a fun diversion and a bonus to a facebook game then that keeps it fun . Same with all of Vegas and the games where you play with real money. Only gamble the amount (of time or money) you are willing to lose.

Does anybody know if this is true for show tickets? The My Vegas Rewards people on the phone have told me that I can go to any Mlife desk at any point in my trip to get all the show tickets for the entire trip.

For show tickets, I want to say I've been told that on the day of the show, tickets can only be picked up at the hotel where the performance is. But on days prior to that, you can get them from the will call/box office of any MGM property. Please confirm on your own, though.

For show tickets, you can redeem at any box office. I redeemed Zarkana (cirque show at Aria) tickets at the Bellagio box office.
For the Aria buffet tickets, we had to go to Aria to redeem at the Aria Mlife desk.

I have redeemed over 1 million LPs so far. Mostly, they have been painless. The worst was the last trip, also at Mandalay Bay. The first evening, there was NOBODY in line, so I was able to get my Shark Reef Aquarium tickets right away. For the buffet pass, they said that I had to wait until the DAY OF the buffet to redeem at the desk, so I went back the next morning. And the line was 20 deep! *sigh* So it took about 45 minutes to get the breakfast/lunch buffet pass. By the time we got to the buffet, breakfast was over and it was now lunch, so I missed out on all the eggs and stuff. Their lunch was not very good. But take this with a grain of salt; I'm a breakfast food guy, and I can eat omelets and hashbrowns 24/7.

Most of the hotels, not just MB, are enforcing the buffets be used on the day you redeem them
