It looks like I will be in Vegas Halloween weekend for a softball tournament and I am wondering if there are any awesome Halloween parties going on downtown. I am not sure if I am staying downtown (probably uptown or off strip), but it is real easy taking the bus downtown and I would defiantly go downtown and join the party or concerts if there is something good going on down there. and yes I will be dressing up.

Are there any parties, contests, or/and concerts downtown on Halloween?

Halloween is a Friday this year so you can expect Las Vegas will be busy and that there will be lots of stuff going on.

Right now it is too early for any specifics, but yes there will be parties, contests and concerts Downtown (and on The Strip).

Downtown itself has a costume parade.
Most, if not all, of the contests will be as part of parties in clubs and bars. Most contests will be of the "Sexiest ______" variety.
For concerts they usually get tribute bands along the lines of Ozzy/Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Rob Zombie, etc - stuff of that nature.
And there'll be lots of people in costume (and no, not just those goofs looking for tips for pictures).

I was downtown the last 2 Halloweens.
It was very packed last year, shoulder to shoulder people!

It will be interesting to see how the can/bottle ban will affect the day.

You will see many many folks in costume.

Just from a standpoint of people-watching, I am inclined to argue that there is no better time of the year to go to Vegas. Halloween is absolutely fantastic. So much to do. So much fun. Just sit back, watch, and enjoy.

I had my first Halloween in Vegas last year and it was unbelievable, coming from the UK I couldn't believe how crazy it was, I went Downtown and it was just so manic, I had a few beers in Hogs and Heifers then watched some bands on Fremont St and ended up in the Golden Gate

I usually go the week leading up to Halloween but have never stuck around for the actual day... until this year. We changed our flight home to 11/1 just so we could people watch. Not sure I want to haul a costume all the way to Vegas, but I appreciate the effort some people put into it.

Just get an orange shirt, some cheap construction paper black, scissor, and tape and you have a awesome costume. A Jack o lantern, ready to get smash. Easy and quick.

Was there 2 years ago. It was elbow to elbow! At one point you couldn't move. There are many stage shows and if you want to move, you have to move with the crowd. It was way too crowded for me. Even in the casinos, it was crowded.

I tolerate crowds when in Vegas because I feel it adds to the vibe and excitement. But elbow to elbow? That's too crowded for me, lol! Guess I can forget about visiting Vegas during Halloween, although I was thinking of going at one time...

I've been starting to go to Vegas yearly for my birthday (11/1) but since I've started Halloween has not been on a weekend yet and we always have to stick around to take our son trick or treating. Hoping to make it this year as he's grown out of trick of treating finally!

We went the week before last year. I was hoping to see a lot of decorations, and was sorely disappointed. I did find fgreat set up outside one of the brew pubs, and missed the haunted reef by a day. Downtown was fun but not a lot was going on other than some of the bands. We had planned on going back this year, but a surprise adoption derailed our plans. Hopefully we can get back for Halloween 2016, when we have our ten year ann.

Never been there for Halloween but I can imagine it would be great for viewing. I thought St. Patrick's Day was crazy, guessing it would be 2x the viewing pleasure!

Three year Halloween vet, not going to be there this year since Halloween is on a Friday. Yep, last year downtown was a zoo, very crowded under the canopy, lots to see.

In 2011 I went to see the parade... poorly executed. They've changed the route since then. It might be better organized now, but I didn't find it to be worth the trouble to see. Last year they closed off parts of Fremont, east of the canopy, for a street party of sorts. Nice place to mill about and people watch, but not exactly a decadent Halloween atmosphere a la the strip nightclub parties I have only read about.

I will miss being in Vegas on Halloween this year.

We had such a good time last year that we are going back this time. We were on the strip last year and will be again. My sons and I wore costumes and went from casino to casino playing bartop VP.

This year sons, girlfriends and wife will be in costumes. Thought about going downtown but glad we didn't as my wife doesn't like the crowds.

I have been staying downtown on Halloween for many years. Yes, it's crowded. It's always crowded on weekends, though. Some of the costumes are over the top. Worth seeing. The weekend before Halloween seems to be the big draw, I have heard. Will most likely be back this year.
    Good luck. :beer::beer:

One word! CRAZY! We've been downtown for the last three years on Halloween and the crowds were, as has been said, shoulder to shoulder. It was too much for us and we left right after the parade. Presumably it will be even worse this year b/c there's another parade of some kind earlier in the day so the whole day will be packed.

I'll be there again this year, last year I was stopping at the Stratosphere and I got a taxi to Fremont as I knew the deuce would be packed, I got this eastern European cab driver who couldn't understand the Halloween thing, he dropped me outside GN and it took me an age to get through the casino to get onto Fremont Street

We are staying at the Mirage, but Halloween evening we're supposed to meet up on Fremont with a dozen friends from another Vegas board. Never have been there for Goblin night, and these descriptions of the elbow to elbow press of humanity doesn't sound very appealing to me (I'm an oldfart just shy of 70).

One thing for sure, I will not attempt to drive our rent car up there. Guess a cab will be the way to go?
