We have the best luck with upgrades checking in on Sunday. Harder to get coming in on Friday or Saturday. Desk lines are shorter checking in on Sunday too.....most folks are checking out.

I've been casino hopping and saw huge long lines at Bellagio and next door at Caesars there was no one. There is no best day or worst day. Long lines at Excalibur and no one in line at Luxor. You just never know. I wouldn't plan my trip around it.

Give it a few hours and the lines will probably be pretty bad most places. Friday night Cali people coming in is pretty rough. Outside of that, I think you're mostly right. But I think Sunday-Wednesday seems a little lighter as a whole. A big factor is the amount of staffing the hotel puts up for checkin. Any time the hotel checkin is really understaffed, lines will suck.

Right you are, sometimes the long lines move quickly due to extra staffing and sometimes the short lines go slow due to under-staffing.

The HRH Tower at the Hard Rock is usually a breeze anytime. I'm lucky to be able to go into their VIP room, but even the folks at that tower's "regular" counter get fast efficient service and the elevators are steps away. I feel sorry for the folks who check-in at the main registration desk, as it's often pretty backed-up, especially Thursdays and Fridays after 4 or so. The line that snakes back and forth is NOT something I wanna be in. Then after checking in there, if you're in the Paradise Tower, you gotta walk halfway to North Las Vegas!

    Might be the best answer.

Sundays are good, as mentioned above. Time of day makes a difference, but every time has its drawbacks. Too early and rooms aren't ready. Afternoons usually busy. After 10 p.m. there are no lines but also no room selection.

They can be busy any day. The trick is not to check in at check in time.

Its a 24 hours town so why get in line with 100 other people at 3pm when they tell you to? Your room will still be there.

Drop your bags at the bell desk and go do your thing. When you check in later on there will be no lines plus they will have a better picture of what is and is not available for upgrades.

The only bad day I've seen is Saturday. There is just too much checking in without folks checking out for it to go quickly. They are generally struggling to find a place to put you until actual check in time. But checking in most other days is usually pretty easy when the hotel is loose on check in time. I haven't been too much since they have been pushing for the early check in fees so I wonder if every hotel will be a general clusterf*ck if they stick to their ground on check in time.

I wouldn't use that as a performance indicator. They pride themselves on low lines there.

As you say though, no best or worst day. Conferences, time of year, fluke bookings etc etc can all mean that a usually quiet day in x or y hotel is suddenly the busiest on record.

Last time at CP you couldn't even get in line to check in before 3pm. They even had a girl where the rope starts not letting you. Don't know if that has changed but I thought it was kinda crap and odd!
