Ladies and gentlemen, I am in purgatory.

Ok, I can be a smidgen melodramatic.

But what do you when you are itching for a trip but for whatever reasons things are not aligning yet?

    Welcome Back, Sco!

Well, since I'm living the question, after you stop crying, you just start putting away your nickels and dimes and plan for next year.

Yesterday, I had my teeth cleaned. I asked the hygienist if she could see the lights of Las Vegas when she cleaned my new bridge. I told her that is what that bridge cost me.

Also, due to my situation, I'm going to have to lower my expectations a bit, maybe Monte Carlo instead of my normal Vegas home, The Mirage. Definitely Carson Tower over Rush Tower at Golden Nugget. Bar apps versus sit downs for dinner. Last row at shows.

We seem to always have a trip somewhat planned as soon as we get home.....we know what month but have to check the schedules of others going with us to set the date....then I get everything in place. Seems like waiting for reasonable airfare is the last thing to check off the list....

I always end up reading this and other boards incessantly. In hopes of that being me some day.

I wasn't supposed to go back to Vegas until maybe Sept of next year at the very earliest. But, we need a makeup trip. So, we decided to do a how low can we roll trip. I'm not the lowest roller on here but I can roll pretty low. No making grilled cheese in the room with the iron!

Play golf. Host a dinner party or friends for a long weekend. Go to Palm Springs or Newport or the City. Take on a yard project. Get a group together and hire a driver and do a day exploring wine country here in our backyard. Go to Hawaii or Scottsdale. Go down to Jalama and walk for several hours along the Pacific. Just stay home on a staycation, cook some fun stuff, hit a day spa, whatever. And watch football -- NCAA FB, of course

    Research.

Since Vegas is still relatively new to us, I try to read what I can and ask questions about attractions, shows & restaurants in attempt to make our next trip better than the last.

I also try a new game (poker, pai gow, & craps to date) with each visit so I try to get a basic understanding of the game before I hit Vegas.

I've already been to Vegas 3 times this year but lately I have been feeling the itch to go back. I've gone to my local casino - Tampa Hard Rock a few times but it's not the same and it's 90 miles away.
I made a decision to stay closer to home through the end of the year but that hasn't slowed me down. I've spent my time going to the Theme Parks (several times) and to tons of Music Concerts.

In the past couple months I've seen; Crosby Stills & Nash, Alice Cooper & Motley Crue, Deep Purple, Steve Winwood & Tom Petty. In Oct I will see; Earth Wind and Fire then end the year with Fleetwood Mac.
So basically I'm keeping busy hitting the Theme Parks, participating in a few 5K's (walking) music concerts and will do Halloween Horror Nights in Oct as well. Thinking I'll hit Vegas in Feb for my Birthday.

Wow, you just got back from Europe and getting antsy already. Actually for me I usually have to wait a couple of months and wait for all my bills to start rolling in so I can pay them off. Usually I look at my cash outlay after that and say "well, no vegas trips until I can save enough money". Guess last year I got the travel bug out of my system (Europe and DC trip in May/June) that I didn't have the urge to go to vegas until January. I did feel the urge around September/October but by then I was busy trying to plan my 11 day January Vegas trip.

Since I really started my Vegas addiction in about 2009, I have always had at least 3/4 vegas trips a year. I have had some moments where I didn't have any plans set in stone and those were the hardest moments. Generally I have to jist not visit this board or even think about Vegas until I know a trip is on the horizon. Even if the trip is 3 or 4 months away, I just like being on the clock.

I'm on a Vegas hiatus. I'm opposite of you right now. LOL. I wonder if any are on the same boat as me. I used to go at least 8 times a year for about a decade. Now I'm down to 2-3 trips per year last couple years.

I go for the gambling, nightlife, and food. I'm from SoCal and theres been alot of new restaurants Ive been wanting to check out locally and I've being drawn to the downtown LA scene lately that I dont crave for Vegas as much. I get my gambling fix here and there at Morongo and San Manuel casinos, but as far as nightlife and food, LA has been exciting again for me lately.

I see Vegas being stagnant for me. Yes theres the SLS and LiNQ that is new, but that doesnt excite me much. So no, I'm feeling opposite of what youre feeling right now.
I just did a 3 day trip 3 weeks ago for an event, and I went to Bacchanal and STK. Thats about it. Everything felt ehh to me. I guess I'm waiting for the next big thing that will excite me to really want to come back.

I do have a trip Nov 2-8 and Dec 6-8 but I'm really not excited about it. I've been reading up on the forums again to see if anything new but seems like its the same old subjects. Was hoping there was some new hidden gems I've missed in the past or something really worth checking out the next visit.

I'm also living the nightmare right now. We've gone once per year for the last three years - 2011, 2012, 2013 - but can't make it happen this year. I was starting to get my hopes up for a Spring 2015 trip but conceded to the wife on a March ski trip with a bunch of her family (I'm not a skier but I'll go and have fun trying).

I still have a little hope that we might be able to shift it to next Fall but the people I wanted to meet there will likely stick with the Spring, so I doubt another Fall trip with just us will happen.

As far as what I do when I can't book a trip? I plan. I keep an eye on prices. I adjust and readjust our budget to see what might work and what won't if an unexpected opportunity were to present itself. I keep track of the latest and greatest happenings and changes in Las Vegas. It all distracts me and keeps my hopes up.

Right now is the longest I've been away from Vegas (4 months) without having a return trip planned since probably early 2007.

To be honest I haven't felt the bug at all yet, except for maybe wanting to attend VIMFP. I've been enjoying partying in NYC, doing some home remodeling, and have trips planned to Mall of America and Phoenix this fall/winter.

I do feel like something is missing though! [emoji6]

After I get over feeling depressed, I start researching my next trip. I'm hoping for either January or late March/early April but both are still a long way off.

Work has been super crazy, and I had this bright idea to go back to school 1/2 time and my Autistic son is now back at home so that might be partly why I have Vegas on the brain so bad right now.
