Through a lot of time and effort by Keno and myself, we created the VegasMessageBoard.com Countdown Timer many years ago. But, with the update of the board software came the idea to make it even easier to use, so contacted a developer who helped us intergrate the Countdown Timer into the user profiles.

The timer features 92 graphic backgrounds with the choice of 8 fonts that can be displayed in 12 colors. The timer is always a work-in-progress, and we may be adding more options in the future. If you would like to contribute by creating a background, please see this thread.

I hope you all enjoy it :)

    1. To create your new timer, go to the top of the forum and click on My Profile.
    2. From there, click on the Countdown Timer tab. If you have an existing timer, it will show up there.
    3. If not, click the Add New Timer link.
    4. The form will appear and you will also note it says how many timers you are allowed at one time. Some users are allowed more than 1 timer at a time.
    5. Fill out the form with the date, time, font, font color, time zone, and background of your choice. You also may leave a short message (80 characters), if you choose, which will be displayed above your timer.
    6. Click the More Backgrounds link below the backgrounds to see more than the first 28 backgrounds.
    7. After making your selections, click submit.
    8. The page will refresh and your new timer will be show on your screen.*

    *NOTE:
If you receive an error message stating "Please delete any previous created timer to create a new one," you must click Cancel\Go Back and delete an existing timer before you can add another.

Thanks for working on this. Mine are showing up centered and side-by-side, while others seem to display the old style of flush left and stacked one of top of the other. Is that controllable or is the side-by-side just the new format? (Not a big deal either way, just curious.)

That's the new format for 2 timers. The ones you referenced are the old timers that haven't expired yet.

Dumb question: I've selected my time zone and the time I leave (hey, vacation starts when you leave not when you arrive!) but it's 2 hours "fast". So does it just then calibrate to Vegas time (I'm central time, so 2 hours ahead of Vegas). Nbd, it's just curious.

There's a possible problem with the countdown timers: Mine was set to Vegas time but was off by 8 hours. I ended up having to use a timezone of GMT -1 hour (Cape Verde Islands) to get it to display the correct countdown.

Also, it would be nice if there was a preview/edit mode so we don't have to delete/recreate when a mistake is made.

I don't know if this affects countdown timers, but it probably does. One thing people may not realize is that if you're logged in, the timestamps on posts, etc. will reflect the time zone setting of your computer. If you're not logged in, they don't, and I'm assuming they show the time based on the time zone of the server, which would put the server in Mountain Time U.S. based on what I see.

That looks better Shock. Did I have something set wrong on my timer that you fixed for me?
