I know it is very early but surely some of you are planning to be in LV for NYE. We will be staying at Flamingo for the 1st time. If the VMB pins or wristbands become available, I will be sporting one or both. Hope to meet up with some of you and put a face with a name.... Anyone got plans yet???

Wife and I did the NYE in Vegas thing twice. Never again. At least the 2nd time we got smart and watched the fireworks from the comfort of our own strip view room. The first time we joined in on the strip and became part of the worlds largest mosh pit. Everything about Vegas that week is unenjoyable for my wife and I. Way too many people, 'holiday prices' on meals, table limits almost double the norm (if you can find a seat), every slot is taken, lines everywhere especially the bathrooms. The fireworks was pretty cool, but not worth it the aggravation.

I remember saying that I would never go on NYE. Maybe I'll just try it once, so I can say I've been there at that time. I'll think about it in the next month.

I'm in town over Xmas and NYE, staying with the GF. Will be at Caesars a lot as she is working and I'll get into trouble if I go out drinking with friends every day.

Was hoping to do the first week of the new year again, skipping NYE. I have noticed that on the 5th and 6th hotel prices go up a heck of a lot compared to the 1-4th anybody know why? is there some function on those dates that causes the spike in prices? :confused2:

I'm curious as to why some people say they would never go on NYE. I've never been there at that but have considered it for a future trip. Is just a complete clusterf**k or what?

Been there twice for NYE. Just too many people! Also have been there twice for the Superbowl. Again, too many people.

I like my space and don't like crowds. Just a personal preference as I get older. (61).

CES convention that weekend. That usually gets a huge number of visitors. Then a few weeks later u got the avn's/ porn convention. U might wanna look for dates between those 2 events if u want cheaper rates

We have considered it this year, but would have to cancel our Superbowl trip. After some of the stories of crowds, I think we will just continue going on Superbowl weekend as I am not very tolerant of large crowds.

Makes sense. I'd probably wouldn't like it as I sound a lot like you. 56 here.

I think there is a big difference in crowds for NYE and SB. I see the SB as coming together for the culmination of the year in the NFL and an opportunity to make some correct choices on the game and make some money. If the game is not good or colossal it doesn't matter or directly reflect on the follow-up gambling and crowd.

SB doesn't require you to get to la-la land as quickly as possible since you want your faculties to make good decisions for the game and then actually watch the game AND remember most of it. Not that alcohol isn't involved---haha....but it is a different core element of the visitor in my opinion. SB becomes (for me) the best of all possible reasons to visit....lots of gambling opportunities of various sorts (parlays, teasers, prop bets (LVH) and straight up) with people sharing various perspectives about the big game and why each side is right.

NYE is more of a "release" of whatever and alcohol / drugs are the avenue to open the gate. I don't see the dropping of the ball as a level once passed is then put aside and get on with the game of gambling; or the gamble of gaming. I think the club scene taking a larger chunk from the visitor's dollar as compared to gambling (versus visits in the 5 + years past) causes the crowds to be made up of those visitors with a different focus than mine. A giant drunk mosh pit comes to mind but not comfortably.

But others love it so to each his / her own......

Going Dec 29th til Jan 2... If you can go and not wait in a line or wait at restaurants it is well worth it!! This New Years will be Aria or Wynn for VIP NYE party. Last year it was Aria and had a blast. They did it right. Must have cost 3m. I was sitting at a table with slot high rollers. They said "This is what we get for losing 1,000,000 in the slot machines, a 3m NYE party and some gifts" Talked to another couple who say they won 1.5m over the year at slots. Another couple won 300k and another who lost 500k for the year. Unbelievable. Tables I can believe but slots? I did believe them though.
