Bally's still has $25 blackjack tables with excellent rules in their high limit area. The six deck shoes have the following rules:
    Stay on soft 17
    Allow double after split
    Offer later surrender
    Allow re-splitting aces

They also offer 2 deck games that hit on soft 17.

The dealer said the high limit area has been around for about 6 months. Unfortunately nobody was playing. I went by Saturday night and only 2 people were playing at the four tables. I played on Monday and had the whole area to myself.

I wouldn't be surprised if they downgraded the rules and wiped out the area based on the low player participation.

Even though it's been mentioned here a lot, I feel like most Vegas high limit BJ players either:

    1) Don't know this exists slash assumes MGM always has better HL rules

    2) You'd have to play at Bally's. And the HL room there seems anything but a HL room.

Where is Bally's high limit area located?

    Exactly. Lol

It should be in between the cashier and the jubilee theater and is up a few stairs. Compared to most properties, it doesn't have much of a high limit feel, imo.

Coming from the strip it's half way down the casino floor on the right hand side. It's up a few steps in a big open area. It doesn't look or feel like a high limit area. But it's a shame to see lots of players playing $25 at 6/5 tables when there are $25 tables with good rules.

Thanks for the info, OP. I wish I was aware of this before I headed out there 2 weeks ago! Finding a decent BJ game at the green-chip level in Vegas is getting harder and harder by the day!

It doesn't feel high limit at all. There is a nice secret bathroom tucked away up there though. Really nice when you're playing in that area and not having to walk all the way across the casino to take a piss.

Thanks for the reminder! I've been looking forward to checking this out ever since I saw paperposter mention this game earlier this year.

Darkest bathroom in the world :)

I also found $25 games with good rules at Bellagio and MGM most of the time.

Yeah, Bellagio usually has $25 shoe games with the exact same rules as Ballys High Limit. But during the busiest times they will go up to $50.

I played the Ballys game a couple times. It's always empty. I don't like playing by myself....

I noticed many people like that too all around Vegas. Though, most of those folks are not hitting their stiffs against 10 showing, or doubling 7's and 8's based on hunches. So, that 1% extra they lose from 6:5 blackjack is nothing compared to what they lose on sucky play.

This is endemic to Vegas. At Aria, they have a six-deck S17 shoe game that's $25 in the mornings (the S17 tables go up to $50/$100 by late afternoon), and it amazed me to see that game almost empty, right up the row from a bunch of full H17 tables. I'll never understand this.

Good to know...I will probably pop in and play a bit on my strip walk Friday morning. I want to hit Crowmwell and Bally's on my way north back to Wynn after breakfast at MAG.

This is the only reason that makes me wish I were one who got up earlier in Vegas. I'm a night owl and by the time I'm up and running those tables were always up to $50 on my last trip.

My plan during MDW with the wife was to walk the strip a bit and hit up that ballys high limit area to check it out ever since Paperposter posted about it and then cross over to Cromwell lol. But we never made it over to ballys to check it out.

lol we all know how plans go in Vegas!

I have switched mine forty times now and I will probably switch a bunch more.

mrem's post about the blackjack at Cromwell and this one about Bally's will ensure that I get there tho. Unless a hot craps table jumps out and grabs me

Are you solo? That'll help. 2 extra in my party slowed down my plan....and we still crammed in a lot somehow.

Solo for the most part, yeah...I have a couple buddies from Philly who will be in town Fri-Sun but we will still pretty much have our own agendas.
