Caesars Octivius Tower, should we switch from Paris?

Looking for some input from those who have stayed at Caesars in the Octavius Tower. I just learned last week that my host in Vegas has been promoted to another position. Found tis out the hard way when I called to add a few items to my October reservation and found her phone has been dis-connected. Paris has been our home base for the past few years and we had a Calais Suite lined up for out up-coming October trip. I just spoke to a new host I hooked up with and he suggested to us that we move over to Caesars and stay in a Premium Room in the Octavius Tower. Now I've always liked Caesars and know their pool area is amazing but my biggest negative with Caesars is that it's just so big and spread out. My questions. How our the rooms in the Octavius Tower? Is the Octavius Tower located close to the pool & casino? How far of a walk will it be from our room to the strip? Any other input or advice would be appreciated.

 

The Octavius tower is very close to the pool. It is FAR from the strip and casino. I like the rooms at Caesars and the pool, but it is such a big property. If you stay in the Octavius tower, there a separate check in and entrance off of Flamingo.

I like the regular rooms in the Agustus and Octavius towers better than some of the suites at Paris and PH.

 

Octavius tower is part of the laurel collection and has its own pool and entrance. The rooms in that tower are the newest at CP. Personally I'd ask for a switch to Augustus there with a fountain view. However...I had a Calais suite at Paris in April and I'd take that over a standard room at CP any day.

Sorry - I misread your post. The Calais suite is a no go. I'd go for Augustus luxury with a fountain view over Octavius tower. It should be an easy swap for them as both are laurel collection rooms. If you have problems getting the swap let me know.

 

Sydney10, how far of a walk is it from the room to casino in minutes? We like to set up bar in the room and make frequent trips to do a shot or two?

 

Since you are familiar with Paris, I think it would be similar to walking from Bally's to Diamond check in at Paris.

 

I'm not Sydney10, but from room to nearest VP machine near the buffet is about 2 minutes. From room to Pussycat Dolls pit is 8-10 minutes. It's a big casino.

 

Seeing the Calais Suite on YouTube, I think I would rather have the corner Red Room Premier at Paris over Calais. And I like the Augustus fountain-view room better than the Paris Red Room Premier. I've never stayed in the Octavius Tower, but I'm sure that is also nice, but it is farther away from the fountain.

 

I understand that the premier red room is more modern, but it's about a third of the size of a Calais suite, and more importantly the Calais suite actually looks like a Paris hotel room (in France) with an armoire and chandelier etc. It does look a bit shabby on Youtube, but having stayed in one it was really, really nice (and vaguely authentic).

If you do get a Calais suite, make sure it has a P at the end of the room number which indicates pool side. 1574P is the one I had. Directly in the middle of the Eiffel Tower so a great view.

 

I have stayed in a Calais Suite my last 2 trips so I'm know what to expect. It's much better than a Red Room which I have also stayed in. One of the things I really like about staying at Paris is how fast & convenient it's is to get from the room to the casino floor and the strip itself. I love being about run up t the room to do a shot or mix up a drink and be back on the casino floor in a matter of minutes. It would be nice for a change of pace to stay at Caesars in their newest tower in a premium room with the extra living & my wife & I both love their pool area which totally blows away the pool at Paris, but I'm just sure if all the extra walking will end up turning us off. Especially when it comes to making those night time shot & drink runs to the room every 45 minutes.

 

I'm not really understanding why you run to your room for a shot and drink. Isn't it just easier to order a drink while you play or pop into the Diamond Lounge? (Although...diamond lounge hours are not extensive)

 

Yeah I'm talking after hours when DL is closed. We also have 4 other couples flying in to celebrate with us and our group party's pretty hard.. We're heading out for our 18th wedding anniversary. Since we usually have the suite, the bar gets set up in our room. Believe me, we drink while we gamble but shot runs have always been a tradition be it in Vegas or Atlantic City.

 

I think you would be annoyed doing that run at Caesars. It is not nearly as convenient as popping up to your suite in Paris. I prefer the restaurants at Caesars and the pool is so much better than Paris. I guess you have to weigh what you value more.

Is the host offering you a suite in the Octavius tower? From what I understand, the comp value of a Caesar's suite is a lot more than a suite in Paris......if that makes any difference to you.

 

I only saw the video so I guess it was hard to tell the size with it. The video I saw showed only one window in the living room area and no window in the bedroom. The Premier Room at the end of the hall has two sets of windows on each side of the wall. I like the corner room at the end of the hallway because you can see the fountain along with the Eiffel Tower without it obstructing too much of the fountain.

 

Normally I would push hard on CP as the rooms are so nice it makes up for the extra walking. But since you are entertaining, it may be better to take a suite. If you are interested in making CP work, you would probably want a suite in Forum but that's further from the pool and not everyone can pull that off. I would let your host know why Paris would still be better for you this trip and see if he can up the ante if he really wants you to move.
