    My Trip Report

I've done one trip report here and honestly, it was a LOT of work! Hats off to everyone who does them - it's not as easy as it looks! I see some live reports that crash about midway along and will try to not do that but we will be in California on Saturday and Sunday so I may be MIA for a bit. I know it's easy to get caught up in the fun but will try to post pics along the way even if I don't comment on them. :)

So here is the plan - My husband, myself and his mother will be flying in on Southwest from Columbus Ohio to Vegas on 9/3 staying until Friday 9/12. Advance warning - we do some gambling but are slot players. I play for entertainment and expect to lose and John has one goal - winning. :) He has hit for just over $1000 a couple of times in all of our trips, but that's it since we are such low rollers. We will be doing sight seeing during the day and gambling at night - usually. We will also be working a little while in town, which will mean we will be going around the city shopping in thrift stores. If I find anything interesting there - I will share. :-D

My husband loves to use coupons for food so we have an entertainment book that we hope to get some use out of. ( I see us looking thru the book, not finding anything but by then are starving and stop at the first place we find! BTDT). We also have the Las Vegas Advisor coupon book that we try to use as well.

I have researched and planned and driven myself nuts (and probably my entire family) but here is the plan for hotels. :)

Plaza 9/3 to 9/6 - Free!! We were in Vegas last year and somehow got on the mailing list for free rooms. We took advantage booked 2 rooms. Even thought they are free, I don't think I would have book them without Curt posting on the board about the improvements the management has tried. We may not be high rollers but are not shy when it comes to recommending places we had a good experience in, so will try to pay them back in that way.

New York / New York 9/7 and 9/8 - Myvegas rewards. 2 nights each. My mother in law did not have enough LP coins at first for the rooms, so we booked under our names and will share with her. I received an email for a spa suite upgrade for $35 a night which we decided to splurge on for ourselves. :)

Rio - 9/9 to 9/12. Comped thru the total rewards site. We were in Vegas last year, played at CET properties but didn't stay with them. (We used Myvegas for 4 nights at the Luxor, booked back to back) So am thinking we lucked out on the rooms but it's also a slow week. This is where we stayed on our first trip and it was a fagvorite of my moms.

With resort fees and taxes, my mother in law will pay $118 for her room and we will pay a little under $200. We will also be driving over to California Saturday morning and coming back to Vegas on Sunday. We don't have that roomed booked but have a feeling we will pay as much there for the one night as we will for all in Vegas. (Just another reason why we LOVE vegas!)

My Vegas rewards - In addition to the 4 room nights, we have 3 tickets to Love, 2 $25 free play rewards for NY/NY, 2 free Mirage buffets and 2 passes for the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. The single Mirage buffet was gone on Saturday when I went to try to get it, so have a feeling they are getting ready to make them available for hotel guests only. :( We will use ours when staying at NY/NY or just before seeing Love so should be ok.

We bought tickets for Zombie Burlesque on a 50% off deal my husband found somewhere. We have tried in the past to wait to find good deals when we actually in town and it just never seems to work out for us. This year I decided to get shows booked up front - it helps that they are paid for as well. ;-) We would like to see an Elvis show for Mom, but I haven't decided which one yet. We have Goldstart $10 certificates but they only have "All Shook up" so wing it on that one.

We have a car rented thru Alamo with discount that will be one of our biggests expensses at $340 for 9 days (including colision damage waiver and a full tank of gas) We will do a lot of traveling around the city. We casino hop, check out off strip properties, touristy things and local stuff. Local food favorites include Metro Pizza and Blueberry Hill. We will spend an afternoon or two going to thrift stores around the city. My husband sells on eBay full time and we'll need to work a little to finance the fun (and write off some of our expenses. ;-) )

I will be posting from taptalk but wanted to start from the desktop to avoid any problems. -crossing fingers- Hope I don't crash and burn on the live report but if I do, I will fill in once we are home.

    See ya soon!! :wave::wave::wave:

We like to park in the Green lot off of Stelzer when we fly anywhere. I'll be flying out of CMH to LAS as well soon. Have a good trip!

I spent many years flying in and out of CMH in a previous life. That pic made me smile.

    Have a great trip!

11th floor south tower. We only asked for rooms that were near each other. Louisa gave us connecting room. No wait to check in but the whole town looks a little empty. That was something I was hoping for by booking right after a long weekend. :)

Casino is not as empty as I thought it would be. Last year I don't think we saw anyone!

We're arriving Tuesday 9/9, and also doing the Alamo rental car for the first time. Positive experience? I'm looking forward to reading about your trip! I just LOVE tapatalk!

John checked in online the night before so we went to the Kiosk and did everything there. We used our debit card to pay so were not sure if we could use the kiosk but there were no problems. It was painless and the best experience yet with Alamo. I had found some discounts on flyertalk so this also avoided any questions about them. :D We were out before they called the next person in line. There were about 5 people in line when we got there.

Thanks! We don't see the zombies until Weds but will keep you posted.

I was able to snag some of the Station breakfast/lunch buffet my Vegas rewards yesterday morning. Redeemed it at the players card desk. I might have been the first and they were asking me how the game worked but all in all not a terrible experience.

Food was standard fare but did the job. Well worth the 5.99 so more than worth the time for free. :)
