Heading to vegas in 40days for my buddies 40th birthday. Going to be there Friday through Tuesday. Anyone know of a fun place for an older crowd for live music and drinks? Not interested in doing the whole "club" thing. I'm too old for that stuff.

PH has a live band often. Mostly rock music. Paris has pop music live on Friday and Saturday nights. Bally's has live music that tends towards country music.

The Orleans has live bands playing on the casino floor, enjoy listening while playing slots. Always an upbeat, lively vibe.

Think they call that the Bourbon Room. That's another fun place.

I've seen phoenix at Mandalay Bay -- they're pretty good! They play at Mizuya off the casino floor -- it's an odd set-up but there's a dance floor.

Fremont Street stages have some decent bands and the people watching is "interesting" to say the least. For a more sophisticated experience I recommend Jimmy Hooper at the Laguna Champagne Bar (Palazzo) Thursday-Sunday, 9:30-1:30. I've seen him several times (years ago) and he puts on a great show. A free show and a nice place to relax with a drink. MK

I still have fond memories of live bands playing at Bills on the strip. I'll stop by some of these next week and check them out.

I second that. Bourbon street cabaret is an open air bar/lounge in the casino. Dancing, drinking and the music can be heard on the slot floor for additional fun, and geared to the older crowd.

Bourbon street sounds great! I do love bourbon, open air, and music. I am thinking about seeing "rock of ages". Trip advisor post speak highly of it.
