worried if there's enough to do for families. will see shows and walk strip to see all hotels. but worried about the gambling time and if u have to be 21 for most good shows

    thanks

The 18 year old will not be allowed to watch you gamble. She will only be allowed to walk through. I have noticed that Vegas is very stringent on that point.

I would suggest Mandalay Bay. There is plenty to see and do while you are gambling.

They have the pools, food areas, shopping etc.

I would even recommend the mall. There are 2 of them within a 10 minute bus ride.

If you need to get to the strip, the tram is an easy way to go.

    Plenty of options.

    Cheers

You didn't give a time frame. Young women are usually good at killing a lot of time at the pool.

I'd 2nd Mandalay Bay. Seems to be one of the biggest on families. Many young kids are there in the summer (even younger than yours)

The pool can not be beat! The Shark Reef exhibit is worth checking out too. Lots of good dining options and the Mandalay Place mall.

Except for the room rate, I don't see Excalibur being any better in any way than Mandalay Bay.

I agree with everyone- Mandalay Bay seems very popular with families - it is a nice place to stay, and the pools are really fun.

Mandalay is big on families because of the pool, but we are going into winter... but I would still recommend it. I would also look at Planet Hollywood, or Caesars lots for them to do without gambling, lots of shopping.

Excalibur is.. bottom of the barrel, just because it has a childish theme doesn't mean it's more family friendly. If you can step it up to something nicer I would say it's well worth it! Look at the 4 star properties.

She can't be in the casino. She can attend the shows no problem, it should state clearly if it's 21+. I went a bunch when I was around that age and still loved it. Also look at going to like the Shark Reef or the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, Neon Museum, Red Rock... For gambling you just have to leave her behind... or go at night.. or have the 22 year old and her go hang out while you gamble.

    I would not do Excaliber.

As a family oriented hotel is tough. I think chosing a place a little luxurious would be nice and also they will have spa access. Pool is hit or miss depending on the season.

What do they like to do? If they like high end shopping, I think Vdara is a good place. Center strip, close to crystals mall and can walk across to planet Hollywood shops or Caesar forum shops. No casino (incase you don't want them to see that).

If they want to walk around and see the free stuff, then center strip is good.

If you guys plan to do a lot of outings with a car (basically off strip) Orleans or south point is good because it has a theater and a bowling alley.

Oh yes! Orleans, Red Rock, and South Point have bowling and movies and stuff, a bit more family oriented..

MB has a two bedroom suite that has 2 queens in one bedroom and a king in the other. Sounds perfect for you! It's the x3 suite or something like that. The pools are awesome thereb

As everyone else mentioned..... I also suggest a no go on Excalibur. If your kids were 10 and 12 I would say that would be good, but at their age they're just gonna think its a dump.
I would pick somewhere that has a shopping area so they can at least go walk around and do stuff. Planet Hollywood, MB, even Caesars Palace have shopping areas. Even if you do MGM / NYNY, they are nicer properties and its a quick walk down the street to the shops just north of MGM.
As for the kids sitting with you while you gamble. Is it allowed..... no. But if your 18 year old doesn't look or act like a little kid and is sitting by you, they may or may not notice (Although at table games, they do card often if you look young). If you're confronted by security, just act as if you didn't know. Just for the love of God don't let her play. The last thing you want is for her to hit a jackpot on something and they ID her and they find out she was gambling underage.

    hotel help

hi. planning a vegas vacation first time with while family. I'm looking for a hotel on strip that has 2 beds for total of 4 people. one that's nice.
wife and I have stayed in the past at cosmo and vdara which we liked. but all there suites have one bed and a pull out couch. I'm thinking that's not real comfortable. or am I wrong?? was thinking 2 nd bed would be better.? looking for 3.5 or higher rating hotel.

    thanks

MGM has a standard suite with 2 queen beds. The rooms are nothing special. Its a basic suite but instead of the 1 king bed it has the 2 queens. A decent bathroom with double sink, separate shower and regular tub. And it has a sitting area with a second tv and a sectional couch (which may or may not have a pullout mattress (I know the one in the king room does, never checked the one in the queen bed suite); The nice part is that its not overly expensive. Depending on when u go its usually only $10-20 a night more than a standard room
