Was thinking about checking out the GVR. We were at the Sunset Station already. Is it kinda the same, different, something to see? We will bus it from downtown. Which are the right bus routes to take?

Looks like you would take the 206 from the downtown transit center then transfer to 111 at Pecos 111A right to GVR.

I've never done it just reading the map.

Our groups favorite Hotel/Casino. Classy property with a great sports book. It is a big step above Sunset Station.

GVR and Red Rock are Station Casinos high-end properties.

They have a shuttle from Mandalay Bay or The Airport. Look it up online Green valley resort shuttle. Maybe call them to confirm, Is it worth it, big resounding yes.

Anyone have any experience regarding drink prices at the pool? Wondering if they're "regular hotel exorbitant" or "Strip hotel ultra-exorbitant."

I seem to recall paying 12 or 16 for a margarita at The Pond. I may be able to have a look-see in 2 weeks.

Noticeably cheaper than the strip but not cheap.

It is def nicer than Sunset, but it comes with a price tag. I recall $12 vodkas at the Casino bar, not sure if this was just because there was a concert or if its regular price, but the pricing seemed to be along the lines of Red Rock.

This probably belongs in the casino gaming forum, but does anyone know about GVR's nickel VP offerings? I know their quarter paytables are great, but can't find any info regarding nickels.

Unfortunately I didn't make it there this trip and I was hoping to make it there as well. VPFree2 says they have 99.92% Triple Deuces Wild for nickels, but that game is a variance disaster though. In my experience, spin poker games sometimes have better paytables than normal as they expect you to play all the lines and they are an older game, but you can one line those and max bet. Red Rock for example has 8/5 Bonus Spin Poker w/Dream Card for dimes. Let me know what you find.
