    My Trip Report

I wrote the following intro yesterday on the plane on our way to Vegas:

    Background:

We were last in Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Normally we would not return again so soon, but as those of you who read my report from that trip may recall, my husband over did it the night before his birthday, and I had to cancel all Bday related plans as he laid in bed nursing a godawful hangover all day. I told him he cost me a day in Vegas and thus owed me another trip, so we booked this trip to celebrate my Bday which is tomorrow (Sept1). Rest assured I will not be spending it in the room hungover. BTW, we are me, 47 (48 tomorrow) and my husband R, 53.

We normally visit 2-3 times per year and tend to stay at CET properties due to the comps they offer.

As I write this we are in the air, on a Southwest (LOVE THEM) flight out of Austin. Flight left around 5:40 PM, on time with an estimated arrival in Vegas around 6:30 PM.

We've had several wins already - the first being boarding positions A20 & 21 via Early Bird, the second being absolutely no line at security at ABIA, the third being scoring seats in row 3, with a half full plane and therefore an empty seat in our row, and the fourth being a great flight attendant who thus far has not taken our coupons for drinks.

We are staying at Planet Hollywood on a 3 night comp, with $50 free play. Since we basically have only tonight plus two full days, flying home around 11 AM on Wed, we've made no set plans at all. No shows booked, no meal reservations. We are going to play it by ear mostly. The trip will mostly consist of drinks and gambling, with hopefully one decent meal tomorrow night for my Bday. I'm leaning toward Striphouse, if we can get in without a reservation.

Our play tends to be roughly 50% VP, 30% slots and 20% tables. Table games are usually BJ and 3CP, but we've talked about mixing it up a bit, maybe learning something new like Let It Ride or Free Bet BJ. I'd love to play craps but my husband has been reluctant - the interaction intimidates him a bit I think. We'll see. I may play a couple brief sessions of roulette as well.

We play a lot of bartops, because we like the interaction and great drink service, understanding it comes at the cost of crappy pay tables.

One maybe goal of the trip is to see if we can make Platinum for next year. We are currently Platinum thanks solely to the TR Visa, and we enjoy the perks. I'm not sure if our normal level of play can achieve it, but we will see what both playing VP and slots on one account can do. I won't chase it by spending over our comfort level, so if it doesn't happen, oh well.

I'm hoping to do a semi live report with updates and pictures during the trip, followed by a more thorough update once we return.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Now it's Mon AM and we just woke up. No hangover!! I will post a couple updates from last night with pics in a minute.

We arrived in Vegas on time around 6:30 last night. Bags came out quickly, and there was no line for a cab so 15 mins after landing we were on our way to Pho. Great guy at check in upgraded us from our comped Hollywood Hip room to a Resort Vista Corner room with a view of the strip and the fountains. Very nice room!

Dropped our bags and went downstairs. Played some VP at the sports book bar, no wins. Wandered around playing some slots, I doubled a $20, then decided to go across to Cosmo to see if my husbands favorite bartender Nicole was working at Queue Bar.

Grabbed two seats, chatted with Nicole and Jeff for a bit, and then, not 2 hours after arriving in town, my husband hit this:

Nice way to get things started!

I had a near miss on a good hit:

Left the bar, played some Wheel of Fortune and won $100 on a spin before leaving Cosmo and coming back to Pho.

Had a quick bite at PF Changs, played some 3CP (I hit a full house on the 6 card bet and walked away up about $65) before finally turning in around 1.

It's now 6:45 and we're wide awake, so I'm about to shower and we'll head out in search of B'fast. More later!

3s w/kicker plus AWAK for DH... looks like a good start! And thanks for the pic of the queue bar Deuces miss. That's worth adding to the list unlike CET's horrible dueces. Hope you can get a royal before the trip is through!

Sitting at Sully's bar at Ballys playing VP, and talking to Donny, who just may be the nicest guy in Vegas. He talked about knowing people from this board, in particular Macker. Not really winning, but having a great time.
