I'm looking for suites for my trip in December. Both the PHo Panorama Suite and Cosmo Wraparound Terrace appear in my price range. My needs are simple. Enough room to host some friends and a place to sleep with a nice view for a couple of nights. This is all about the room, not the hotel.

I've been in a Cosmo Wraparound Terrace before and those are pretty cool. Nice amount of room for friends to hang out and enjoy a few drinks, balcony for the smokers and usually a pretty nice view, but in December, the temps may be a bit chilly for the balcony to be really worthwhile.
I've only stayed in a regular room at PHo. The pics of the Panorama Suite and some youtube vids that I've seen make it look interesting, I could get a smoking room for my friends who smoke. The themed rooms sound cool, but I'm pretty sure I'll get the silliest one they have.
I'd love to snag an Apex or Boulevard Suite at PHo, but those are showing no availability for my stay and are out of my price range if they weren't.

So convince me. Which of these 2 options should I go with or am I missing out on a third of fourth option that is in these 2 suites price range?

I stayed in the Panorama suite with my brother once and it felt a bit cramped. Seems like I was always moving chairs by the bar to get by and would have to wait for one another to pass before going in the bedroom. If everyone finds a seat and sits the whole time it wouldn't be bad but if you got 5 people standing/moving around it's gonna get real crowded real quick.

I have stayed in Panorama suite and it was fine. But those Cosmo Wraparound Terrace look pretty cool from the pictures I have seen. I would vote for that.

Well, the balcony might not do you much good in December... but I think I would still choose Cosmo. I've stayed at PH several times, and I've never been impressed by a room there. I can't imagine it would be worth it to stay in a suite. I've looked at the Anthology suites and everything, they don't even seem that special.

I love the suites at Vdara and Trump.. but not sure those would suit your needs (Vdara (or both?) are non-smoking right?). The Trump 1 bedroom corner suite is HUGE. I love staying there, nice having the kitchen as well if you were going to mix drinks or serve any food. I think the master bathroom is bigger than my apartment haha. Other than that I haven't had much experience in suites, but I'm always intrigued by MGM's suites, they have a bunch in various sizes.. also Mirage's 1 bedroom tower suites, those look set up to entertain.

IMO, there's really no comparison. Size and quality of the room, COSMO wins. But to address the needs you stated, as far as enough room, both are around the same size. But the layout of the PH Pano room is not very accommodating where you can have a big group just hang around. I've stayed in both the Panorama and Boulevard suites. The Blvd suite was very spacious and plenty of seating and it's one big room, and also with a pool table. If I recall the Blvd suite prices weren't too far off from Pano rooms, maybe an extra $100 or $200 a night? The views for both COSMO and PH is about the same. You can get rooms at both places where you can see the fountains or the strip. If you do decide to get the Pano room, try to get above 15th floor or higher and room numbers ending in 96/97. The connecting room to the Pano suite is actually a separate room. As you stated and some others, the terrace is a plus for the COSMO wraparound. Even though it'll be a bit chilly in December, it won't be that bad. I'm a smoker myself, and I rather go out to the terrace and burn a quick one then to walk all the way downstairs to smoke or smoke in a room full of people. Just my 2 cents.

Totally agree with easy_money, having stayed in both the Wrap Around and Boulevard suites.

Another +1 for the Cosmo wraparound.

I haven't been in a Panorama Suite since it was Aladdin. I think the actual room is comparable to the interior space at Cosmo. I do remember an awesome wall that opened up to a bathtub off the living room. You know that has possibilities. :haha:

The other suite I really liked for a gathering was the Masquerade Suite at Rio. Nice sized room, lots of seating and a great view. However, I wouldn't want to be the one in charge of coordinating and schlepping everyone out there from The Strip.

The panorama suite is fairly narrow. The Boulevard suite would be a better choice. The blvd suite I was in had a foosball table and bumper pool table. The main room was large. I haven't stayed in a terrace suite at the Cosmo to compare.

I haven't been in the Cosmo one but the one thing I can guarantee about the PH suite is it will probably be worn down / things broken in it. I've stayed in a couple boulevard suites and 1 apex and there has always been small things broken (iPod Dock broken, bumper pool table missing 1 of the bumpers/etc) and generally carpet/etc will be worn.

If those don't matter to you (doesn't to me), PH is a great place for a large group

This is not one of the ones you are comparing, but I thought I would throw it out there. The 2 bedroom tower suites at Mirage are pretty large and spacious...even the one bedroom Tower Suite, if you don't need two bedrooms. The dining and living room area is one huge open space, unlike the 2 bedroom penthouse at Aria, which has a dividing wall between the dining and living room. The Mirage Tower Suite is also priced relatively low compared to many other similarly sized suites/penthouses on the strip. Another great thing about the Mirage...it has one of the shortest walks from the elevator banks to the strip.

I just stayed at the Cosmo Wraparound terrace and I like it. I've only stayed at Planet Hollywood once and I think it is a nice party area but not for me.

I think the Cosmo wraparound is what I would go with. You can still go outside but it will be cold in December.

I don't know the cost as I refuse to pay for a room in Vegas but if it is the same I would go with Cosmo.

The reason I choose to stay at PH is because I am a CET Diamond member. But the reason why I stay at PH in particular is because of the casino atmosphere. I like the music and the pleasure pit dealers and dancers. But if Cosmo is one of your choices, I have never heard anything bad about their rooms/suites.

I've gotten used to the iPhone-style carpeting at PH. That's what it reminds me of. Anybody who plans to stay there, pay attention to the carpet.

I guess that is why we all have our personal preferences.

I like the Cosmo casino and rooms but I also like Caesar's casino and rooms over PH.

Is there a cost difference, does cost make a difference to you? I have stayed in both, and here are my thoughts broken down by the best aspects of the rooms.

Cosmo: Balcony is awesome, but I didn't use it much when I went last december and stayed in the wrap around, too windy and cold even during the day! I think I went out on it twice maybe? The room has a pretty good layout as far as space, but as far as entertaining guests, the layout is basically a room with a couch and a kitchen you can't use. If you are trying to impress the guests, this room would be overall the most impressive socially out of the two because of the balcony factor and being in the best Resort on the strip.

PH: I like this one better for what you are suggesting because I think it has a cooler vibe if you get a strip view since it is so cold during that time to use the balcony. The overall feel of the social (aka living) room was more open, although narrow. This one had a bar which was also better than a kitchen you couldn't use. The bathroom had a cool little jacuzzi tub right in the middle that two people could fit comfortably in if I remember right (ladies involved?) and open up to the main room. I think this room is more of a social gathering place vs Cosmo.

While I like PH better for what you described, if the cost is the same I would always go for Cosmo. I love Cosmo, I will stay there every time as long as it is financially feasible (their rooms get quite expensive). You are right above the hottest club in the coolest casino (although higher priced) in a great location between Bellagio and Aria, along with multiple pools to choose from during the day. There is just something about the vibe of Cosmo that is always awesome! I checked for the dates I am going next month to see the cost difference and it is $3k for PH and $3,500 for Cosmo, in that case, I am going with Planet Hollywood and buying a bunch of stuff for the in room entertainment, maybe a girl? Depending on the occasion!

Either way, you got two great places, HAVE FUN!!

Thanks everyone. This is really helping me make a decision on which room to go with.

For those that talked about cost, The Cosmo room is lower in price right now, which would add a few bottle of booze to the guest list :)

    Keep them coming!

If Cosmo is cheaper, I would definitely go for Cosmo. Of course I'm cheap when it comes to amenities, and only choose due to amenities if the price is the same. I get comped at the Caesars properties, and even though I like Caesars rooms better, especially the fountain view in the Augustus Tower, I like the Pleasure Pit at PH.

The rooms you guys are discussing are out of my price range, but after my wife's and my first stay at Cosmo, there's no where else in Vegas we want to be. It's an amazing hotel with a great vibe. Just booked a slightly cheaper suite today for our October trip.

We have stayed in the wrap around at Cosmo a couple of times. It is a great room and easy to host and entertain...plus it is at the Cosmopolitan!!

Haven't stayed at PH ever...after Cosmo, we got spoiled no need to mess with what works. Good luck making your decision and either way, I am sure you will have a fantastic time!
