I'll be staying at PH a couple times in the next few months and I haven't played switch in a while. Do they have it anywhere around there?

Also, I haven't been able to find it online but another thread made be question one of my normal plays. If I switch to a 21 (i.e. soft 21) which is 1:1 pay off after thr hand, would it make more sense to double against a losing hand?

I was in Las Vegas in mid-June 2014 and at that time they had blackjack switch at Aria (typically $15) and at Bellagio (typically $10 or $15). Aria and Mirage also had freebet blackjack. A little further away, Mirage has $10 blackjack switch and Casino Royal has $5 blackjack switch.

I can confirm with above poster that Aria has it. I played it for a few minutes this weekend. Minimum was $25 and half the hands I wished I could take my cards to Free Bet Blackjack...lol. The creator should combine the games and call it Free Bet Switch.

Aria has a side bet where you get paid if you get dealt a pair, or more, in your first four cards. This bonus bet happened to hit often enough where it was worthwhile during that short session. As with all side bets, it probably has a huge house edge. Nonetheless, it was a very entertaining session.

I don't know if PH has it but they have it right next door at Paris.

Oh boy, that could be a crazy game. Guessing "Push 23" would also need to be invoked as well for that to make it a balanced game? FYI, he also owns the patent on that.

Maybe he could introduce the Joker cards and whenever they are dealt, it freezes the hand, so no further action can take place on the hand with the joker...lol

I don't know if you consider MGM close, but they a few tables there. I think $15 min, right by the players club booth if I recall correctly.

LOL...if there were two jokers per deck (for a dealer push with a joker in the dealer's hand) then maybe it's close to an even game...unfortunately the math is beyond me right now...and likely beyond me when sober...bah

Any thoughts on doubling on a soft 21 against a dealer's five or six?

I don't do it, but that is one of the reasons I like Free Bet Blackjack more than Switch...21 is 3:2 on Free Bet.

I've never played free bet. I may try it next month. It sounds pretty fun. I'll have to study the odds.

My gut says don't double. You don't double soft 20 why double soft 21?

I actually like Free Bet a lot, but damned if I can't walk away a winner. I have played 5 or 6 times now and have lost every time...lol.

Weirdly, Paris is the only CET casino that has it in Vegas.

ALL MLife casinos have it. Some have two tables.

Doubling a soft 21 is only worth 2/3rds of a unit overall vs. a full unit by standing. Remember Ace through 5 now gives you a crap hand, and 6 or 7 isn't that great either.

The full strategy of Blackjack Switch can be found here.

I saw this being played in Graton Casino but I didn't play it.

I did play Free Bet at the Horseshoe when it was a single deck with the same rules, and pays but they took it out. It was a mess as the dealer and the PIT Manager was not sure of the rules.
