So ,I possess(ed?) a winning World Cup ticket worth roughly $300. I followed the sports book procedure on the back of the ticket (Ballys) to the letter and sent them the ticket certified mail about a month ago to receive my "mail pay". Since then: Nothing. Now, I haven't tracked the certified mail yet (I'm trying to remain calm...). But that certainly will be the next step. I guess I'm just wondering how long this should take? I would think even the busiest sports book would've responded within two weeks, so now I'm becoming concerned. Anyone have any experience with mail pay from a sports book, good, bad or indifferent would help. And what possible recourse I might have if the sports book "lost" it? I made a photo copy of the ticket just to try and avoid any "he said, she said" situ. Thanks.:peace:

Never dealt with Ballys but from past experience they have 90 days to settle.

Last time I redeemed via mail ............. the turn around time was about 6 weeks.

They don't process each ticket individually - its settled up in a lump some like a due bill.

Give them a chance to cycle through their schedule - its coming

Glad to see you have a copy of the ticket..I was thinking the worst that you did not Copy it..But 3 weeks is not unusual at all, though sometimes its much faster..Nothing to worry about.
    Congrats on the win.

I have cashed a ticket at Bellagio in the past not at Bally's. When I cashed it took me about 4 weeks before I recieved my check from Bellagio. Like you I copied my ticket but my ticket was not worth much so snall mail it went. You should recv the cash in a few days to 2 weeks.

As long as you have a copy of the bet ticket clearly showing the numbers on the ticket and certified mail, you have no problem. You should receive it by next week. Just track it to see where your pckg is if you can. But again, you should not have an issue since you have done everything correctly.

I haven't done one with Ballys, but I remember them taking a LONG time. It's been a while, but I'm sure it was over 4 weeks.

The 3 or 4 times I've sent out winning tickets I've been paid w in 4-5 weeks. I have a friend who had it take almost 2 months...I wouldn't sweat it. I have a week 1 parlay that I bet last month. If it comes in I have the decision to wait for a check, or use it as an excuse for a weekend trip..your thread has me thinking trip trip trip...if I get lucky!

From their end, you are just another unit in the cog. They'll pay...they'd get nothing out of a stiff job but bad publicity.

Does anyone know how long after the event is the winning ticket good for?

I thiiiiink it is 90 days. I could be mistaken.

Back in 2010 I had a winning World Cup ticket from V/P and when I returned I was past the allowable time. However the books will still pay it. They had to go to a back office and re-open the ticket and then pay me. It took about an hour. The manager on duty at the time was a jerk about it too...but he got it done

You sent it via registered mail. Do you still have the mail receipt? Claim it was lost and see if the USPS will pay up.

I also had a winning ticket. I mailed mine to Gold Coast on July 7, 2014. I had my check by July 28, 2014.

The back of your tickets tell you how long you have to redeem. Somewhere between 120 days and 180 days is the norm.

As stated, you can take tickets in past due and have the managers approve and pay you. If you are known at the sportsbook it goes a lot easier to be paid.
