I'm there to watch my college (Northern Illinois University) take on UNLV in football. Doubt if our contingent of alumni are enough to put much of a doubt in the room bookings, though.

The Mayweather fight is probably the main thing, but just going to add: not sure where you got the "no conventions" idea from... it's pretty rare for there to be any days in Las Vegas where there isn't a convention going on (usually the 1-2 days before and 1-2 days after Christmas is about it). For September 12-15 there are at least 16 conventions going on that will touch on some or all of those dates, one of which is pretty big and an even bigger one that ends on the 11th.

I'm going the same weekend. Used a comp night at Cosmo at decent offer at aria to bring it from $1300 for 3 nights to $700 with some FB. No website offers or myvegas deals are good then! It is insane

Bit off-topic, but it's crazy how cheap strip prices often are if you go when there isn't a big event on.

The missus is over here for two weeks at the end of September and we can't find a London hotel worth staying in (on a Monday and Tuesday night) for less than $340 a night. For the cheapest room they have. I suppose my point is we are lucky that Vegas is so cheap in reality!

There are no big conventions, but the reason the Mayweather fight is then is because of Mexican Independence day. The GF was only able to get time off for it because she booked it before she got promoted. Apparently ALL of the big players are in town, there are concerts all over the city etc.

thanks for the offer Rusty, but we're on a pretty tight schedule that day, so it will be more of an in-n-out. The other factor is that Sam Boyd does not lend itself too well as a tailgating venue, especially midday that time of year.

I see plenty of rooms available... It is the tail end of CTIA, but us wireless nerd guys cut and run pretty quickly after trade shows.

All the major events have been mentioned, but mid-late September is also a time when heat starts to break, kids are gone, and those who avoid LV in the summer get thrown back into the mix. This only serves to intensify the popularity of all the other major events.

It's a real pisser, because that is our anniversary weekend and now we'll have to wait a couple of weeks to celebrate in Vegas like we always do. Even if we could get rooms I wouldn't want to be in town on a fight weekend. Too many too many. Had to change the counter, too!
