    Hi all

We're from the UK and in Vegas next week. My wife likes to keep in touch with family in the UK but using our mobiles is way to expensive.

We usually buy a phone card in the UK to take with us but we were just curious as to whether you can buy these in Vegas and what sort of rates you get?

    Thanks all Chris

    HI Chris,

I holiday in Vegas from Australia and use these cards for the same reason.

Im not sure of the calling rates, but can confirm you can buy them at all Walgreens stores.

    Q

If you are taking a phone but take roaming and voicemail off (you pay for any messages left whether or not you listen to them if out of the UK) you can always use wifi and then Skype or FaceTime (Apple to Apple). Have used both with no issues. There are plenty of free wifi areas around. Another thing I've done is text a time and then they have phoned me in the hotel room for a quick chat.

They sell lots of various calling cards with really cheap rates. Of course, to make a call with a calling card, you have to find a phone to dial into first. Hotel phones sometimes screw you to make a local or 800 call. Phone booth's are getting harder to find.

We usually get a T mobile sim to use during our trip. They have several options, the best being the pay as you go at $3 per day for unlimited local calls, texts, internet.
You can also do a plan that gives you unlimited worldwide calls. That's the one we do, but we usually have a long trip to the Vegas.

Let me know if you need any more info. I believe the T mobile plan is popular with Canadians too.
