Interesting....With all of the other online-slot games out there, in which you have to pay for chips, these games do not offer rewards as MyVegas does. So, I don't mind spending a few dollars here and there. It supports the game and maybe in the future better rewards. If MLife does there due diligence as I suspect they will. Hopefully, It will help towards more comp offers, etc....JMO

What a goofy article. This sort of realization is old news. Although they did get it right that anytime you make the types of points the article does you are bombarded with fanboys screaming "STFU! Its a free game you greedy leach!".

I still can't understand why anybody pays real money to play ANY Facebook game. That's just a concept I can NOT get my brain around.

Yes, I agree with you! I would never pay money to play any of the other facebook slot games. This is a little different, especially since it is linked to my MLIFE account.....

"If sales continue at their current rate, the game will gross $200 million in its first year, according to Doug Creutz, an analyst at Cowen and Company."

Pretty simple, some people react to changes quite dramatically. This isn't an "issue" if this is how MyVegas started from the beginning. And, probably, in the ideal MGM world, that's how they'd like to keep it. With all the tracking involved, they can see who plays and who doesn't when they use a MyVegas comps. Their original goal to get people into their casinos and have them spend money elsewhere on their properties isn't working out, so they have to change it.

    Just a different theory.

Personally doesn't matter to me. I'd rather they change their rules and do whatever they need to do to keep the rewards and MyVegas alive, otherwise it goes away for everyone. (what do you mean I have to pay for this buffet?!)

    From article:
When thinking in terms of this experiment, China Mystery’s choice as the medium for the test starts to make sense. As an older, less popular slot game, China Mystery must get a very steady and predictable amount of play. It’s not experiencing the surge of popularity that new games like The Walking Dead or Jurassic Park see. And, because it’s been around so long, it must be a decent performer (at least when compared to other older games that have been replaced). It’s the perfect game to serve as a baseline when trying to measure the MyVEGAS impact, as any boost in slot revenue will easily be attributable.

I never really thought of that - using an old, steady performer and seeing if there's an increase in play due almost completely to myvegas. Seems pretty smart.

I actually don't mind tracking of my myvegas play and linking it to my mlife card/mlife tracking. I'd feel sad if there were a thousand casino games also playable in myvegas versions.

I'm not a huge slot player, so this may be a primitive opinion, but I think the myvegas slots are way more fun than the casino versions. Myvegas Blackjack on the other hand....

I hope they come out with more "real" casino games. This could get interesting to see the evolution of MyVegas. Especially with people purchasing chips. Isn't this essentially online gambling??

So you have to stay at mgm to get some free play. hardly the collapse of society.

The game still offers loads of good deals and freebies.

Something to keep in mind is this is a new arena not only for us but for casinos so I am sure there are laws they must abide by in order to give stuff away like freeplay.

This article seems to be a revelation for the author and the author alone, this has all been known and accepted for a long time.. I don't think they can really ever price out people from playing with regards to the time they spend and the rewards they achieve. There will always be people who consider menial rewards worth a portion of their free time.

I've been playing for a year, maybe a year and a half, I've never payed any money, I don't play religiously and I've gotten a lot of great rewards. I didn't play back when it was a rewards free for all but haven't really been disappointed at all.

I think the reason people begrudgingly say "I know, I know, someone is going to say 'but it's free!'" is because it is free and to speak of it in any sort of tone which comes off as complaining falls deep into the "first world problems" category.. "Man, I am going to take a vacation in vegas in three months and using my computer and internet I'm playing a game which gives me rewards to eat at buffets for free and receive free drinks or 4 star hotel rooms to stay in, and the jerks who make it are making these great free things a little more difficult to get." Just seems a little gratuitous to me

Not likely but bring on Winning Bid 2. They have one in Aria so it's a slim chance.
