Some background....live on the east coast of Canada, but would like to get away for a weekend. I'm a loyal CET player and have $750 in airfare to blow for me and the wife before December!

We are thinking about heading to Caesars in AC for a weekend, is the trip worth it> What's the property like etc.?

Thanks in advance for the comments!

I was not overly impressed with the property. It doesn't measure up in comparison to Las Vegas. I thought Harrah's at the Marina, especially casino, spa, and the new tower rooms looked way nicer that Caesars AC.
Me personally I would not blow good money on AC airfare unless the front end comps were really good. The casino was okay, but I saw a few more undesirables in comparison to the Marina properties.

I guess the plus to this place is your right on the boardwalk, access to pier shops, and the spa. However if I had $750 in airfare to blow and no front end comps besides free rooms, then I would pick Vegas.

I was there this weekend. The hotel is in fine shape, the casino is very large, and the limits are pretty high. GChrome, you will like it.

This is the room we had. Very clean, very nice.

We live 75 miles from AC and visit often. I hope you have a premium card, platinum card or higher, as that may help with a comp room on line. They tend to get high for weekends. Avoid Miss America weekend, which a week or two after labor day. Their buffet has been re-done. Would recommend the Centurion Tower for ocean view. The casino has recently been remodeled , essentially many of the newer machines. Table game limits tends to rise on weekends. You have two additional CET properties, Bally's, ( right next door), and Harrah's in the Marina, which is easy access by CET shuttle or Jitney bus. It's not Vegas but it's close. I would avoid Miss America weekend. Rates will go through the roof. Enjoy your stay.

I'll start by saying I haven't entered Caesars for about 4 years and I've stayed there only a few times but been there many, many more times. I've probably been to and stayed at Harrahs more recently than that but given the other options in my area, I have a hard time justifying the drive up to AC these days.

Personally, Caesars has always have a nostalgic feel for me. I've always loved the casino and I feel very comfortable being there. I've never thought the rooms were very nice, but the room posted above is much different from the rooms I've seen so maybe they've been renovated. The Pier Shops are very nice and seems like a fun place to hang out, though I've only walked through them a few times. Loads of shopping and a couple of food options and bars. Being that it's on the boardwalk, you can walk different places and to the outlets that sit right across the street during the day. So, it has a good location.

Harrahs is much more my cup of tea though. The casino is a little darker and has a better feel to me. Seems much newer/more modern. I liked the rooms over at Harrahs as well. But you're also isolated out there at the marina. But, the Golden Nugget and Borgata are a short ride or a short walk away (not at night though). So you're not too isolated.

So, I think there are advantages and disadvantages to being/staying at both.

I've been there quite of few times. AC is no Vegas. But....having said that........Caesars is a nice property. You can walk to multiple casinos. CET also offers a shuttle to all of their AC properties. I doubt if you could get a direct flight. I have been there on junkets. CET flies you in, shuttles you to the hotel (and back). Maybe you could fly to Montreal or Toronto and join a junket. I'll try to figure out how to send you junket info.

Unfortunately airfare from Halifax to Vegas would almost eat the entire 750 for one person alone, not to mention the 12 hour travel time, really tough for us to get away for a "weekend" in Vegas, that's why we are thinking about AC...We can get a direct flight into Philly for about 400/pp and it's only 2.5 hours away!

Yup, room looks good enough for me, it's the wife that cares about the room though ;)

In that case CP is not a bad choice, but I am not convinced it is a higher end property than Harrahs, at least the new tower. So if your comparing apples to apples, I like Harrahs.better. But if I wanted. To be on the boardwalk than CP AC would be my next choice.

We just got back last week from an AC trip. Our room at caesars was not like the room shown above, that room is beautiful, ours was just ok, maybe a little outdated. The casino was fun, and had plenty of lower limit tables (at least during the week)
The Pier Shops sad to say have been hit hard by the recession, more than 50% have shut down, and the restaurants on the 3rd level are down to 2, and another one in the middle is food court style. We walked through the " dead zone " which was basically the whole pier , to get a snack and drink and see the mini dancing waters show, all was closed and there was a sign in front of the water show stating that it was closed for maintenance, yea right.
also skip the Caesars buffet, :vomit: not worth it... $30+ /person.
As for the boardwalk, Caesars, wild wild west, Ballys, area used to be the place to be, now I would rather stay at the other end, Resorts, Taj, Showboat, seems to be more people, more excitement.

If you subscribe to Foursquare, there is a free drink for check in offer at the Toga bar at Caesars, up to $10 value. We like Tropicana, the gaming area is kind of chopped up, but they usually have $10 3:2 blackjack, 6 deck shoe, hand shuffled. I noticed some of the Bally's tables with 6:5.

The drive from PHL to Atlantic City is pretty easy, once you get on I-95 from the Airport you won't hit a red light until you pay your $3 toll on the AC Expressway. Try and avoid arriving later in the day as you will hit commuter traffic driving into South Jersey. It should take you a little over an hour without traffic.

Its kind of funny, but years ago I picked up a colleague from Toronto at the Philly airport and our route passed right by the Philadelphia Naval Yard which was filled with many mothballed ships. He was shocked at all of the ships and said it was probably as many as that of the Canadian Navy.

GChrome, since you are as 7* both Caesars and Harrah's have Seven Star Lounges that offer food off a menu. Nothing super, but pretty good nonetheless. They're open Thursdays - Sunday. I agree with some of the other comments, it depends really if you would like to walk on the boardwalk or you want to stay within the Casino. If the latter, stay at Harrah's otherwise stay at Caesars. You shouldn't get a crappy room being a 7*.

I think you'll enjoy Caesars for a weekend. It is nice and as others have said get a room in the Centurion Tower or even better in the Ocean Tower. That is where I stayed the last 2 times I've been there and it is all suites I think and also recently renovated. The elevators open right onto the casino floor too.

While both Caesars and Harrahs are good and Harrahs is better in some regards, one of the things I like about Caesars more is I feel as if there is more gambling action there. Being on the boardwalk helps too and I think the restaurant selection is better. The Diamond Lounge at Caesars is much better too. It has the look and feel of a nicer hotel lounge with a big full bar and the food service is pretty extensive including things like a carving station and lot of hot entrees. It is on the 2nd floor and overlooks the ocean and the beach.

Not Vegas... but not a bad trip either. Different. The Harrahs/Marina is a nicer property, but Caesars is not all bad. Plus you have the boardwalk. Done A/C twice. Enjoyed it. But, done.

AS a seven star you won't have to worry about about towers as I think you go to the top of the centurion. Also if you are renting a car, the seven star parking area is in the 7th floor of the parking garage. Card access of course. Hope that helps. Enjoy your stay. There is shopping the Pier in front of caesar's and additional outlets a block away from the caesar's property. Don;t wander too far off the Boardwalk at night. Would recommend you use the CET transportation or the Jitney.

Very interesting. Yep... I'd agree. Caesars definitely used to be the place to be. Surprised it's now down the boardwalk a bit, actually.

The Caesars buffet has never been anything to speak of. Crab legs, yes, but it's always overpriced. Sad to hear about the pier. I really liked that place. The noodle bar at Caesars near the Asian gaming is great. Always been one of my favorite places to eat in AC.

Loads of great memories coming into the Wild Wild West off of the boardwalk and going through there. I need to get up there one last time before it all vanishes. Perhaps Labor Day!

I see a lot of comparisons on Caesars and Harrahs at AC. Me personally I think Caesars is the better out of the 2 and out of the CET casinos at AC. CET is at a great location, center of Boardwalk. 5 minute walk to Ballys, 10 minute walk to Taj and Showboat. The Premium rooms at Centurion tower is nice and has ocean view, and has a small LCD tv embedded in bathroom mirror. You can walk across the street to pier shops or just walk 2 blocks to the Tanger outlets. The Ocean tower rooms are newly renovated but I think the Premium rooms at Centurion tower are still better, IMO. DO NOT stay in the Temple tower. I l like Harrahs, but the location is the downside as it is isolated, but only a short 5 minute drive to Borgata and Golden Nugget, or 10 minute drive to Caesars. The Waterfront rooms are the newer and recently renovated rooms. Overall, I think it's worth a shot to give it a try for a 1st timer.

Have stayed in both places, either one is fine, depends if you want to be right on the Boardwalk or at the quieter Marina District. While in AC,you may want to check out The Borgata. A lot of the "people of means" that I know play there.

i prefer Caesars over Harrahs. I find on the weekends at Harrahs, there are a lot of 20 somethings there for the club. I see lots walking through the casino with pillows to pack a bunch into 1 hotel room. The walls aren't that thick and there is a lot of noise/music/screaming coming from rooms where club crews continue the party.

I've only been once and enjoyed it. It's not Vegas; it is a weekend away in a casino setting that you didn't have to fly for hours to reach. The Diamond Lounges have a much better selection than Vegas. In one, I sat enjoying my drink and watching the ocean.

We kept our walking to the Boardwalk area.

Do visit Borgata. Back then, they matched a Diamond Player. You got a free night offer, which we used later in the week. You also gain access to their Lounge. Only my husband was Diamond then but we both signed up for Player's Cards. That was a mistake. I'm Diamond now and would not be eligible for this offer, if it still exists.
