I have always collected chips from the vegas strip casinos. I some how missed the Barbary coast and a couple other strip casinos that have either turned into new casinos or are completely gone. Are there any stores or places on the strip that sell these kind of chips. I know you can buy them online, but they usually sell for a lot more than face value and you have to pay shipping costs, and then you have to worry about them being all beat up or fake. Any ideas.

Spinettis for sure, maybe gamblers general store. Both in LV.

I collect chips but more playable sets than single historical chips.

I second both Spinetti's and the Gambler General store. It think they actually aren't too far from each other if I remember correctly. One of them had a TON of old chips (I think it was Spinetti's). They had some valuable/pricier sets and then some cheapo random stuff.

Actually, if you get a value guide and watch eBay, most sell under book. The hobby has dwindeled a bit but it will rebound. Right now is a great time to buy old chips. I sold off my collection a year or two ago and lost a bit of money on it.

Believe me, ebay will be cheaper vs Spinettis or any other store. Another great site is thechipboard. They sometimes sell chips and there are tons of experts that will help you out. You wouldn't believe the subtleties in some chips, some are very tiny but mean a huge difference when it comes to value or price.

Another vote for the Chipboard here..Zamboni,are you a member of the CCGTC? I'm #8142,going on 5th year or so of membership..
And to the OP you could also look up ALL-CHIPS.com who is a legit seller and should have what you're looking for.
But no worries about Ebay if they mention they are a member of the CC+GTCC club..It's like an honor code to not mis-represent a chip for sale..

James, I used to be. I sold off my entire collection a year or two ago, can't even remember when. I had a ton of really nice, spendy chips. My two faves, that made some websites were North Las Vegas casino Opera House. The two that got me on some sites were both 1 of only 50 made. Actually wish I had kept those. My all time favorite was the Bucket of Blood $5 chip another was the Orbit Inn $100 chip. They were the best looking chips I have ever seen
