I think I can take the duece with my luggage, but im not sure of the route. While riding the duece I heard something about a transfer. I want to make sure i have everything in place before I take the trip.

Is this the best route or are there shuttles near 4 queen?

During "normal" hours, the WAX (Westcliff Airport Express) is without a doubt the best way to go from between downtown and the airport. Of course, "best" is a debatable term, but for $2 ($1 for seniors), it's nearly as fast as a cab and a whole lot cheaper. Most WAX buses even have a luggage rack and you can pay (exact change only) when boarding. (No pre-purchased ticket is required.) You definitely do NOT want to try getting to the airport on the Deuce, which costs much more, is slower than a snail, usually packed, and doesn't even go directly to the airport. Take a look at www.rtcsnv.com/transit and click "GETTING TO THE AIRPORT." The downtown pickup (going to the airport from downtown) is right outside Binion's, opposite the Fremont. It typically runs only once an hour, so be sure to check the schedule.

Getting use to the bus system can be a little daunting at first, but it's well worth the effort. This topic has been covered extensively, but it's not always easy to dig up the information. You might even want to checkout Dewey's bus blog at http://vegasonthebus.blogspot.com

Thanks. Does the Wax share the same stop as the SDX by binions?

It's between binions and the freemont(binions side), check the board by the bus stop to be sure, as well as so you'll know exactly where to be. Yes, I believe that is the nomenclature of that stop.

That's the designation for sure; and there's often an RTC rep there helping folks figure out what to do.

    Turtleman speaks the truth!

I have stayed at 4 Queens & caught the WAX three visits in a row. Never a problem.

I would always looked up the times on the website the evening before. Then, I'd double check them on the bulletin board near the
    SDX beside Binion's.

I used the WAX on my last trip. It was easy as could be and well worth the savings!

I use the WAX from Downtown to LAS every time if possible--the last time the first stop DT was around 5: 15 a.m. which was early enough for my early morning flight home.

Also as a helper on when to catch the bus, use Google Maps. It tells you when it comes as well.

I always rent a car. It is so cheap to rent in Vegas and give a you some wheels if you want to move beyond the bus routes.

Thanks everyone. I had just missed the WAX, so I took the CX. It was 6$. I rather take a bus or shuttle. Ive been ripped off too many times with taxes.

I have done some bus thread reading and figured I just let everyone know that the CX I was on the driver asked all the locals to show local ID. When anyone had a local pass and scanned it, it sounded an alarm and the driver quickly asked to see local ID.

I'm usually drinking in Vegas, so car rental is out even if it were free!
What kind of ticket did you get for $6? From the RTC website, all routes except the Deuce and SDX are $2 one way?

I was confused, I purchased from the ATM. It did not show a 2$ fare. I asked the security guy if I purchased on the bus, is it true I can purchase a 2$ ticket? He said thats only for locals.
So I guess I need to purchase on the bus next time?

Live and learn? The only time I've ever used the vending machines (after more than a little confusion) is when riding the SDX. No reduced fares for or the Deuce, with or without the "old fart card." Thanks for sharing your experience.
